I can't make it with you guys since I live so much further South. It'd be awesome to roll with you but I can't justify an extra 2+ hours and a much later arrival time at Carlisle. I think it's going to be me and a few friends leaving from here early in the morning on Friday, hopefully beating Philly morning rush hour. We'll probably be to Carlisle before you guys are even out of Jersey! lol.

Oh god this is tempting...less than 400 miles one way makes it possible to afford the gas, haha! So how does this whole thing usually work...camp out on the grounds for the nights that we're there? Cause that makes it even more affordable :oogle:.

yeh $15 to register your car for the showfield and admission for two people and camping is $20 for one campsite.

so $35 total for the whole weekend, its awesome and you sould def. drive out with us. hook up with ian(volvo940tuner) and see if you can cruise down to new jersey with him.

well i was hoping this thread would be more active but i still need to talk to steve at where we should meet in NJ b4 driving out to carlisle

so far places this crew have met up for meets and car shows have been my house and steves house both for previous carlisle weekends to the ikea meets.

i wanted to but it seemed we could get more ppl in a convoy this way, just wait and drive out with us. its not that busy friday morning anyway. like i said friday is a better day to just get settled in an set up camp. everyone else is doing the same thing. the only year there was mad volvos on friday was 07 wen the show was celebrating volvo for 80 years. so yeh just come with us and bring mad volvos and we can make this cruise amazing!

yeh you can leave, come back, leave, drive around as mucha s you want. your car gets a sticker on it so you can re-enter.

its up to you if you want to leave your car on the showfield or drive it over the hill to the campsite. thats wat most ppl do.

seriously its pretty chill, dont worry about anything. just sign up, pay $35 to get your car on the showfield and camping and your good to go for the weekend. dont forget to print out the reciept wen you register and bring it with you to check-in at carlisle. you also should get a reciept in the mail that you HAVE to bring in order to verify you paid and all that jazz...

Well, if I'm spending Thursday night with my friend who's coming with me, then I can meet you at your exit on 495, as he lives in Groton. If I'm leaving from my house in Westminster on Friday morning, then I think we should meet somewhere on the Mass Pike. I'm thinking it makes more sense for me to spend the night in Groton and then just meet you right off the highway. You're in the Medway area, right? Also, once the CT guys decide on a meeting place/time, then we'll decide on a meeting place/time, as that hinges on where we're going in CT.

As for a CT meeting place, as long as it's not insanely out of our way (which it probably won't be), I'm up for it. Ikea would work, as would anything else that's close to the highway we're on. Is it Rt. 84?

I will be getting my XC ready soon, but I'm not sure if I wanna spend the money to tint the windows....Ya see...I have these hideous dents in my passenger doors from off roading in a river...and I wanna get em fixed... so I have come to 4 Options:

-1-Find replacement doors in good condition and paint em to match, Coral Red..
-2-Pull off the door panels and pop out the dents
-3-Try to Bondo the crap out of the doors and repaint them
-4-Leave em alone...

The car just passed 220K so some wear and tear is reasonable...but, I would rather fix the dents first and then tint, to make everything look good, especially as a daily...sorry to thread jack, but lemme know what ya'll think

Yeah Ikea in New Haven sounds fine. I have no idea how long it takes to get to the NJ departure spot, so I'm not sure of the time. Any ideas on this?
We have a meet on Tuesday, I'll ask anyone who is going to Carlisle what time they think, and let them know it will be at ikea in NH.

bring some cases of high life. there is no security check, im pretty sure beer is cool cuz ive drankin there everytime ive been there.

my house. i know rockland county pretty well. id just take 287s to exit 30B, make a left at the 1st light which is 202(left is going south)

go through 2 more lights and wen you get to the 3rd light make a left and then drive like 100ft and make a quick right onto my street, drive 2 blocks and you will see volvos

I've been in a few caravans that got out of hand and it ruined it for some of the caravaners....Luke can vouche for this with Ikea I and some guys can vouch for what happened on the Highway to Ikea II...

1-Don't drive like an Ass....now I love spirited driving as much as the next guy but it attracts attention to ourselves. We will be driving 15+ volvos in a row, thats enough of a stretch.
2-Try to keep the caravan going....It is a caravan and so the point is to keep together. If you wanna whip turns or speed off thats fine, but dont make it so the caravan breaks...what would be the point...
3-DO NOT weave in and out of traffic....that's a job for ricers.

Thats basically it. I'm not trying to be the mom but this had to be said. We will be noticed enough so there's no point in making an ass out of ourselves while we are at it...

This is true, anyone who rides a motorcycle knows how tough it can be to find a good group to ride with. I don't know what happens, but the macho/testosterone/adrenaline thing must kick in or something. lol

burgers and wings sound good haha. too bad you cant caravan with us. steve, good idea with the rules. i remember the ikea highway drive got really hectic 100+ mph driving and weaving caused many people to give others in the caravan dirty looks and take out their cellphones to call the cops. caravans are the best part, and if everyone can just chill and drive it will be so much more enjoyable. just my 2 cents haha :cheers:

one thing i was thinking that if someone wants to rip it on the hway then he should do it than cruise and let everyone else do it to keep the pack together. im all for having spurts of white knuckle driving but im also for keeping the pack together and ruining hway traffic.

either way EVERYONE will be following me through the backroads out to 78w then i think we NEED to just chill out and gather everyone up on the hway and just cruise

I'm still planning to meet up with the CT crew at Ikea at 9:00am tomorrow. Then go down to Luke's house with them for 12:00. I got a bunch of hot dog/burger rools (with a package of whole wheat for both burgers and dogs). My friend Ryan is still riding down with me for the weekend. Can't wait to see you all tomorrow! Should be a fantastic weekend!
