Hello,

I've got a clutch problem with my 242, the cosworth clutch cover and custom disc are now starting to slip badly, the solution si replace both with uprated items and run the risk of killing off the venerable M46 so as I have a M90 sat in the workshop it crossed my mind to investigate whats involved in putting an M90 into a 200 series car.

Has anyone got any specific info on what is required or some links to someone who has already done this.
Below are the issues I can think of that would need to be addressed:

1. Hydraulic cltuch actuation, I've got a hydraulic pedal box to swap in I've got the M90 and related parts.
2. I assume the 900 series prop shaft is too long? can anyone confirm this???
3. How much would the shifter linkage need to be shortened?
4. Anyone got any pics of a modified crossmember?
5. Cable speedo (which doesn't work anyway), need to swap to electric speedo(bicycle speedo)

I already have a billet steel flywheel and use a cosworth clutch cover so I would need a custom made clutch disc with 240mm diameter and M90 splines (I know the M90 clutch is 240mm but the clutch disc is unsprung and wouldn't make for a nice daily driver)

Any other issues I've missed or overlooked?

http://www.volvoturbo.net/Garagebilder%2023.html lots of info

shifter linkage should be shortened 100 mm
drive shaft: make a 240 M47 drive shaft 50 mm longer or make the 940 M90 shaft shorter (i think 80 mm shorter but i never got around to check). Or make a spacer for the M47 drive shaft like they did on the above website.
can't you use a fwd clutch plate? They exist in 240 mm with sprung hub, afaik.

You're fine then. I am running a 240 clutch master with a 700/900 series slave in the M90 no prblems.

I made a bracket so i could use the stock crossmemeber and trans mount

I cna get a pic of it installed too if you need.

That or modify the ring gear per Mike P and install a later diff cover and sensor.

I think a FWD disc (ie 850r) is the ticket for the clutch.
