I have seen many attempts but while I wont call them fails, I will say that the ones I have seen dont do it for me. If you know of a pic of a well done mesh grill on a 240, post it up please.

nope, and if you buy your mesh from Home Depot like the other attempts, I doubt you'll "pull" it off :)

Had it on there 3 years with no problems. Now it's getting modified to fit the new headlight setup.

I tried silver and black for the mesh color. The problem with black is it ends up almost transparent. Silver provides enough difference to make the mesh more obvious. Either way you can see everything behind it. I guess you could back the mesh with some kind of black fabric, to hide everything behind it.

I did one on my car after I hit a deer. Didn't look too bad, just not my favorite look on an older 240

the ugly quad rounds make it less awesome. if it had 86+ lights it would look awesome

It looks a lot better in high res, or in person.

even better, once you do this mod, aim for fiend's chicken coop car pictured above for a spontaneous BBQ.

mesh grilles on 240s are like chubby girls wearing fishnet. It can be done but 99.999999997% of the time it will hurt your eyes.

that's my opinion anyway and does not necessarily reflect any set aesthetic standards

This is mine. It's been on there since 2001. I like it, though probably less than I used to.
