I am planing on using a Nissan TPS instead of the 850 sensor. But I am confused about the wiring. Help me out here. :-P

If this is the same sensor as used on the 200SX then the TPS part is in the breakout connector. The connector on the housing is a WOT switch.

jw? but why not the 850?

So I have to connect to the pig tail wiring that's coming out of the unit? Also what does WOT stand for?

You don't have to make a plate for the Nissan sensor. Just drill into the original Volvo bracket and bolt it down.

From my understanding WOT is wide open throttle.

My TPS from a 300zx (I think?) looks exactly the same. the middle wire is the signal wire, red and black positive and negative.

But the check here is an extract from the megasquirt manual and what I used to test mine:

To hook up your throttle position sensor (TPS), disconnect the TPS, and use a digital multi-meter. Switch it to measure resistance. The resistance between two of the connections will stay the same when the throttle is moved. Find those two - one will be the +5 Vref and the other a ground. The third is the sense wire to the MegaSquirt® controller. To figure out which wire is the +5 Vref and which is the ground, connect your meter to one of those two connections and the other to the TPS sense connection.

If you read a high resistance which gets lower as you open the throttle, then disconnected wire is the one which goes to ground, the other one which had the continuous resistance goes to the +5 Vref from the MegaSquirt® EFI Controller, and the remaining wire is the TPS sense wire.

850 is basically bolt on, takes maybe 5 minutes to make a plate. or just use a 3.1 tb.

My TPS Sensor is not showing any activity in MegaSquirt. I sliced all of the wires on the pigtail that comes out of the tps. I then wired male connectors onto all of the cables (red, white, black). I then made a ground cable (black wire) with a female connector and grounded it to the car. I then ran a cable from port 23 on the MegaSquirt DP connect to the white cable coming out of the tps. Then I went back and ran a another cable from port 27 to the red cable coming out of the tps. I have tried switching the two cables red and white around to see if it would make any difference but it has not. All of the crimps and soldering look good. What am I doing wrong.

I am running MS2 verson the latest and greatest.

An expensive, lengthy frustrating one yes. You should have never helped me in the first place. You helped inspire me into this mess that I find myself in today. :-P

if you have not yet done this:

then i'd do it before anything else, to confirm that the tps works and that is is of the correct type -

after you know for sure in what way the sensor is modifying the V vs Vref then consider the ms side and you will not be all frustrated that you threw a bunch of time at a non-working or wrong signal-type senser ... i did and it made for a rather frustrating sunday afternoon wasted.

Got the Nissan TPS sensor partially working. I found out that my DB37 connector soldering was not the best and I think that's what was causing the problem. The TPS sensor is reporting to the MS box but it's reversed, so full open throttle is reading 0% and closed throttle is 95%. Can I correct this within mega tune or tuner studio?

Anyone experience this problem with the TPS sensors reading backwards/reversed?

You have it wired backwards and you need to change that. There is no software "fix."

Is this thread saying a Nissan or 850 TPS a performance improvement for a redblock... or no....

I had the wiring messed up on the TPS that's why my readings were reversed.

The Nissan TPS sensor is so straight forward I don't know why anyone would want to go through the hassle of making a bracket for the 850 TPS. You just need to drill new holes in the existing bracket to make the Nissan sensor fit.

I spent 2 seconds longer drilling two more holes to make a bracket out of scrap metal and can plug my TPS right into the original harness of my car. No sketchy soldered connectors required lol :P

I don't know why you would use a nissan one lol
