Thats 3 coils off the back. Amazingly there is 10cm (legal limit) of ground clearance all round :). Only legal issue is that the springs are cut, but to see that you'd need to be one flexible and dedicated copper.....or have a hoist. Even then the ends of the coils where they were cut have been cleaned up and painted black. Looks oem.
EDIT: Oops, got rid of the photo with my liscence plate :ninja:

Just about perfect! Maybe one or two off the front as well.

Level it out mate, and then invest in some good shocks. or even better, talk to ash about getting good suspension stuff under there.
i like when they are even along the sill, not with the wheel arches as they are lower and that's how it is...

Am i the only one who likes the "lowrider" style with the super low back and high front? I think i'll have to change it back for awhile though because it scrapes too much. This was just a test to see how low i want it when i get the springs reset. Mayby throw some whitewall tyres on there to complete the look too.

mmm i wouldnt have taken so much off the rear and taken more off the front just so it looks more level --> damn volvo and them designing the front wheel arch so much higher than the rear

lowrider style? is that what it is? I thought it was 'sick c*nt' as every 'sick c*nt' in melbourne goes around with a low rear and a high front, I mean both my cars lean to the rear, but I can't stand it and want to balance out the 760 but I won't cut the king springs and reseting them just means it will bottom out sooner, especcialy considering rears on the 240 can be replaced with generic any size springs.

yeh people do that cause they dont have spring compressors and appropriate tools to remove the front springs and cut them. so lame!!

Wow i gotta change it back. Went for a proper drive before and it sucks. Handles like poo (i headbutted the roof a few times ) and you have to be sooo careful on ANY bump or pothole otherwise it bottoms out/scrapes the mudflaps. Long story short, looks good, drives bad. Might live with it for awhile to get the urge to lower it out of my system, then whack the stockers back in.

I dig it man, reverse rake is hot!
I mean, the ones in back don't have to turn, so hide more of them!

It's not low until the mudflaps are on the ground.

3 is a lot.
You're likely resting on where the bumpstops should be if they're even there.
In fact, 2 coils rear is pushing it for me and my rear ride height is almost identical to where you're at.

I plan on chopping a few coils off my turbo springs, installing helper bags and trimmin' bumpy stops for great justice.

pound the fender up or cut out some front fenders and put them on the back (so they both have the high arches), then cut out the tops of the suspension mounting places and weld them in an inch or two higher, cut 1.5 coils all around, enjoy your now slammed-but-still-has-suspension-travel 262c.
even if it is unnecessarily complicated to do that
fattmatt805

dude, just cut 1.5 coils in the back, and 2 coils in the front, it will be perfect

Keep it at stock height, you all are serious morons for chopping springs ghetto-style and then complaining about how crappy it handles. Get some adjustable coilovers if you actually care about performance (which lowering has nothing to do with), otherwise, continue putting huge stupid chrome wheels on your old cars and chopping springs. No one is impressed by a lowered Volvo thats still as old and busted as it was before it was lowered.
Felt like ranting, no harm meant to you OP, at least you realized how much the ride sucks when you chop springs.

Yes, everything you have to say has no validity to it. Carry on.

Lesson NOT learned- moderation is your friend. Rather than 3 coils off the back, why not cut 1.5 coils all the way around? Nice and level, looks better, still has travel.

I want to find out how low i can go for when i get some springs reset. In the long run the idea is to get some airshocks from amazon.com and one of these (http://www.amazon.com/25592-Controller-Air-Compressor-System/dp/B00017YYI6/ref=pd_sbs_auto_1) to control the height. That way i can have it low as balls when its parked, and a more streetable height for driving. I'd go airbags, but they need to be self leveling ($5000+) over here to get approval. Air shocks do not.

Have you ever cut springs mate? The only reason the ride sucked was because it was on bumpstops. With less petrol in the tank it drove pretty perfectly. Not stiff, but firm. Nicer than lowering springs for a dd imo. Besides, i didnt cut the coils for handling, it was cosmetic. In case you didnt realise, this is the "showroom" forum.....Also, lowering DOES affect performance. If it didnt, then why do coilovers have height adjustment? Why wouldnt rally cars have 4ft of ground clearance for all those bumps and jumps? Sure, there is a school of thought that lowering these cars can net more body roll then before because of the leverage on certain parts change, but mate, your statment is a fallacy. Height does affect performance. And where did anyone mention putting huge chrome wheels on their car? That was just random......
