Good chance I'm going to paint the 940 soon. Well I'll do the body work and have a friend's dad spray the car.

Here's what it looks like now:

Feel free to photoshop it, post pics of good colors for a 940, etc.

Is the paint that bad?

Sir Psycho

It's got a lot of faults. Scratches, dents and dings, and clear coat peeling in a few spots.

Just thinking about it because a friend's dad will do it for free and I can get the paint/tools for $400. I've also got a lot of new parts for the car, some old, including bumpers, door handles, mirrors, spoiler, decor panel, side skirts, etc. that I want to be color coded but would be difficult to match the faded paint.

I see. Paint it that color again. It's a sharp color.

Jamming it to look right is quite a bit of extra work, trunk, doors off, ect, and that still doesn't change the color of the engine bay. You might want to check with your painter first.

unless your prepared to do inside the door jambs, in the boot and the engine bay too, keep it the same colour otherwise it will look crap.

Respray it in the factory color, but put on either a 960 rear bumper or an 850 rear bumper, and some 960 side skirts (?). Oh, and put on some smooth 960 door handles too. Then spray all of the bumpers/trim/handles in the body color. :oogle:

I really do like that original Volvo color that it is now...

there's a green metallic colour with a huge shade of gold thats very nice...volvo used it on some 440's and 460's (phase 2) ...cant remember the exact colour code for it :-(

I probably will do the same color most likely, though if I were to change the color I'd paint everything else. I'd sooo much rather just paint the bumpers and all new parts rather then the whole car but color coding is almost impossible :(

What do you think should be black? i.e. bumpers, trim, mirrors, door handles, spoiler, decor panel etc.

Doing a color change is a tremendous undertaking!! You might as well plan on taking several weeks to finish. So make sure you are sure you want to do a PROPER color change jams underhood etc!!!

Good Luck

Either black and lower it or fire truck red and lower it. Why not take that $400 into lowering it? I'd try to avoid laguna seca blue, to me that color is resevered for sporty cars and with a car that high it just doesn't count. Maybe if you lowered it. Did I mention lower it?

Dark Grey, or flat black. Raise 3ft, put 30in mudders on it and a roo bar, you'll be golden.

Paint it the same color. Regent red pearl. It's a brillant color if you know how to take care of paint:

One tab on each hinge, flip down, extra room so you don't smash the noggin.
