Walked through San Francisco today with some students and just started snapping pics of Volvos as I saw them (after I had seen like 5 already).
There are some real Volvo gems in Cali! I'm from North Carolina. We have some great ones too but they love their Volvos in California.

This 740 has some sweet Virgos on it too.

This 850 R was just a sick tease.

Not a 900 person but for those of you that are.

And from the cable car....
<a href="http://s257.photobucket.com/albums/hh223/BeachSales/?action=view¤t=IMG_6288.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh223/BeachSales/IMG_6288.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
Enjoy.

I think you may be right. Pardon my newbishness. I was pretty sure they were virgos though which is why they caught my eye. I wish I had snapped a side pic.

Yea I'm surprised you didn't run into Ken's block o' volvos.
Also, the nicest (and rarest) 744 I've ever seen is right by Ken's house. It's white with red interior and a 16v.

There's a guy who parks a red p1800 with some slick rims on kirkham by my place. There's also a sweet 780 parked in ggp by the 9th and lincoln entrance. Those two make my day when I see 'em.

not really, this area is plastered with volvos, a lot of urban areas are. there's usually 25 or so volvos at the pick 'n pull at any given time.

I was disappointed in the few volvos I saw up in Portland a few weeks ago. I was rolling around in my 245 wondering why Portland has that reputation for being Volvo central!? There are many more in San Francisco, Berkeley, and even Santa Cruz.

Me too. Tons and tons of air-cooled VWs though. PDX is where all the pop-out bugs & squares seem to have gone.
I saw one Volvo worth mentioning in Portland. A very dated 142 blue metallic resto-mod.

Ithaca is 240 town- I have been here 2 years and still can't believe how they are EVERYWHERE- even in our Ithacafest Parade- search "volvo ballet" on youtube. This year, one guy had a homemade sign that said "240 4 ever"

Lol, hanging out with Volvo people would probably be one good way to see some volvos, huh? We loved Portland, so we will be back. The north-west part of town is where we stayed, near 23rd street. We were on a short trip and visiting family, otherwise I would have gotten a hold of people. Next time!

I did see a few aircooled cars too, which is always fun. I did see some fwd volvos with fancy wheels on em, but not any modified rwd volvos. Portland is a great city, can't wait to go back.

Alameda is an interesting place.
Used to live on 114 Sea Bridge. Went to Amelia Erhart, all that jazz. I remember walking down the paths next to the water to get over to the safeway / video store / baskin robins. ahh, nostalgia. Perhaps I should pay that place a visit again. God knows it feels like a lifetime ago (probably because I moved away when I was like 6 or 7... and I'm 18 now.)

There's a few decent 240s here, and a few decent ones in Santa Rosa.
I saw a White 245 with Voxx wheels (the ones iPd was selling), some other nifty stuff and "Land shark racing" stickers...
I left him a note complimenting him on the car and telling him that he should join tB.
Except that note was written on a Mann air filter box.
As far as volvo population goes though, I always notice more of them in Sebastopol. Volvos, Subarus (Foresters. pretty much only foresters.) and Priuses.
