yeap. i did it. what now! unf unf! still working on the getrag conversion so i haven't started the car :-) basically.. enlarge the ring terminals, use new ground strap, replace bushings if necessary, hook female spade connector to D+, use late 240 alt belt adjuster, use old belts or new if needed.. horsepower gain: 20 hp (right.. more like .3 hp.. spins a hell of a lot easier than the bosch).

so that's your article?

sure, why not. it's a clean conversion to go nice along with the efficient later model 240 a/c and power steering. something wrong with the article? i thought it was most appropriate in this section instead of any other section, unless you have a better thought of section.

Bringing up a 4 year old thread? FAIL

There's nothing "FAIL" about actually searching this motherf***er. I was looking for info. Instead of posting the same question the 9000000th time, I looked around.

Sure it's still a fail?

If someone is going to do a write-up on something, provide some f'en detail. To assume that someone is going to just get the gist of what you mean and "after all, there's not much to it", forgets that there are many differing levels of experience and knowledge.

For the record, this sh1t should be removed. All it's doing is taking up server space and accomplishing nothing in the process.

One thing to search. Another thing to reply with "FAIL" and bring this useless thread to the TOP of the article composition from FOUR years ago so everybody can read this FAIL thread all over again.

Denso alterantor was a drop-in alternator when I installed it in my 89 245.
It's so simple, no article is need other than "Yes, it's a drop-in deal". Unless you don't know how to replace the alternator...

what is special about this alt?
The Denso I put in my 240 was 100amps.

I think we should leave it at that. :pat:

Mine won't charge below 1000 rpm with the edis/underdrive pulley installed, I didn't have the bosch one on there with the smaller crank pulley so I can't say if it is only on the denso alternator.

Something that seems strange is that I get 12 volts on the signal/dummy light wire when it is disconnected from the alternator and once I connect it I get no voltage on the wire. Usually I get voltage on this wire when it is connected on the older alternators, anyone else notice this?

I'll presume you mean you are getting the 12V when the engine is off and you have the small red wire disconnected. You would measure 12V because on an open circuit you measure the applied voltage. When you connect it up the voltage disappears because you are completing the circuit for the idiot light which has battery supplied voltage on one side and gets grounded by the alternator when the engine is off or ignition on engine not running. When you start the car and the alternator starts charging. It generates a matching voltage thus turning off the charging light. That's how they both work. Bosch or Denso.
