Wow that is amazing. I can't wait to see where you take it. Just one question: The Bertone looks really rusty. Why did you chose this example for the basis of your project.

because they only made some 6,000 give or take 262C's and they're very rare.

I asked because I just saw a very solid bertone in the junk yard last weekend in oceanside. Not a spot of rust anywhere. Or dents for that matter. You could probably pick it up for a couple of hundred dollars. I realize thats very far for you. I had no idea they were that rare. Still an awsome project.
I see you have some wigle room with the roof. How far back are you going to make the transition between the two roofs? I would go as far back as possible with the Bertone roof.

It's good to see that true customizing is alive and well. I would chop the back roof so that it matches the front.

Will it be badged as a 263ES?
Yep ,it's a rusty bucket. It cost me $500. Just got to go with it though. We have been staring at now for a couple of days . The bertone roof slopes down after the door so from there back ,it will be the wagon . The wagon roof wil be split down the middle. It's lower so it has to wider. The bertone roof is over 2" wider. All the pillars will have a section taken out . We'll add a strip down the middle of the roof to make up the width. Easier said than done. POLC

Interesting idea. I assume you'll be chopping the pillars to bring the roof down?

looks good. if you keep the 2-level action that you already have going on, you gotta put in some of those early VW microbus windows on the edges of the roof- with green tint.

You could build a 263 Bertone Express.
Note the roof line of the wagon in the background:

it think if you chop the roof of the wagon to match the bertone roof and make it look like a chopped 2 door wagon it would look the best.. :D

You ballsy SOB... I love it! I'm not sure which idea I like more - the Vista Cruiser with the roof windows or the chopped top Magnum look. Either way, I like the 3 door! I've dreamed about doing this for 10 years or so, but have never had the skill or the time to do it. I'd love to try, though. I'd probably just do a 242/245 combination and leave the Bertone out of it, though...
Think about pushing the rear pillars and bending top half of the hatch forward, though - make that rear end a little less square.

Yeah, supercharge or turbocharge a PRV, make it a V6 hemi killer, Volvo style!
Hello all,
I've been on other projects this week. I'll post as I go .
The VISTA CRUISER thing was just a joke. My goal is to make something that the factory could/should have. I've always liked the 245 styling but the sedan doors sort of blow it.
I'am not going to let it get too radical. I want it to appear like a factory design exersize that escaped.

Nice car, and nice idea. I'd love to see what it looks like finished, because it's gonna be the envymobile. So what sort of provisions have you made to prevent it from breaking in half going around a corner?

I think it would look cooler if you took out the wagon's original C pillar. It looks cool, though.

I've thought about this project for some time....how great it would be to try. A two door wagon is already fantastic....but then with the lower roof? Oh man, that is stellar. If the C-pillar can be removed, and there is just one solid piece of glass all the way to the tail? Oh my!!!! Please finish this project! For the love of all that is good and pure!
