Hey all, some of you may remember my old red '72 142s

It's slowly disintergrating in the body, and I've been looking for a good replacement for a long while.

A few years later and I found a nice '74 142 in Adelaide and got it shipped to Melbourne where I flew over and took it back to Tassie on the ferry.

Gloss black with tinted windows (hard to see in this picture)
Lowered and a set of spare Virgos on it (only spares I have :/)
And voila!

I'm planning for a new set of wheels, touch up a few bits of the paint and eventually drop my worked B23 in.

Just chopped until I get some proper low ones, likely when I change wheels

Very nice!!! I miss the bumpers though...

''I put my last few francs down on a prostitute
Who took me up to her room to perform the flag salute

Whereupon I stole her passport and her wig
And headed for the airport and the midnight flight, you dig?
And fourteen hours later I was down in Adelaide
Looking through the want ads sipping Fosters in the shade''

Thanks, I'd really like some Geminis on it, like my 242gt, can't ever seem to find more though

Oh Gemini's are soooo nice my favorite in 16'' and 7'' wide:oogle: and Multi-X in 15'' also 7'' wide, two of my favorite Volvo wheels.

This week I might chuck the Geminis on for some photos, also for the lol-factor of having slicks on a stock 142 haha

Gemini's are probably going to make the tires hit the rear 1/4'ers,and maybe the fenders unless you're stretching tires

Thanks, yeah 142 is certainly a special model.

Indeed without chopping out the guards or something, the geminis wont confortably fit

It used to be red, about 4 years ago it was resprayed and windows tinted

I like this car more every day, had it less than a week =D

that is a GREAT looking 142. i like the lack of front bumper. i had to put mine back on 'cause i live in a crowded neighborhood and i KNOW my front end would get crunched if i didn't have it on there.

p.s. someone put your wipers on backwards, bro. might wanna look into that

As I understand, 140's have different offset than 2/7/9 cars so that FWD volvo rims would fit fine, correct me if I'm wrong Ken.

Pictures in here, mind you 3/4 of them hide how bad it is

Biggest problem was what you don't see.
everything from steering to brakes and more are just stuffed, and it's got loads of rust.

Very nice! Now you just need to put the bumpers back on.

That ride height is perfect, low but not too low.

Ah sweet, so it will cop the b23 and such?

Joel142S

Ah sweet, so it will cop the b23 and such?

Yup most likely will take my B23 from the red one, pretty tight motor.

Otherwise it will be taking my brother's turbo B230 from his black 760 if any of you remember the topic. (called 760 turbo lots of mods, twin charging??) or something.

Anywho if he can't sell the car I'll get that with the honking great highmount snail..

But right as of now, the plan is the B23 with the hot cam, shaved head, light flywheel, EFI by Microtech digi2. Goes nicely.

As for the rest of the car, it's getting a decent birthday underneath, all new rubbers and such, they squeak a bit much.

Very nice 142!

Thanks, my only wish is that it was an earlier model, your '71 is great, I prefer the front grille/lights on the older ones.
My 72's are bent =[

Me too, they look great in the front.

The back however needs to be modded once you remove it

I like it without the bumpers too.

Ha yeah they are something special, I am lucky to drive the 242GT once a week at the moment, nice to have a 142 as a daily, because the GT has semi-slicks and a locker, not so much fun unless at speed.

I'm hoping to have the new engine conversion completed by the end of the year, $$$$$ permitting ofcourse!

I've got 2 sources of very capable hands to help me out before the dyno tune.

A rough out of the idea is:
Use tom760t's spare B230FT block
Use the 16v head on it's way here now
Buy a set of 13mm rods and turbo relieved pistons
Buy a Haltech E9 computer.

Need to figure out what to do about:
Crank
turbo etc
both manifolds (likely need custom ones to fit a 142 with 16v head)
cams?
injectors
setup the custom spark system.
probably make a new set of custom engine mounts (we made our own before for the B23 142 conversion)
Somehow jam intercooler and piping in there
flywheel and clutch etc.
Also I have no idea what box to use that isn't either 1) impossible to get in aus, 2) super expensive

It's looking like RSI and Nuke Performance have alot of handy stuff, but I'm sure theres other places with volvo specific things like cam gears.

TBH I would like a nice red set of adjustable cam gears for the 16v, I saw someones build on here with them and I prefer to the blue of say the Nuke gears.

The engine will likely be sat up, as the B23 even had no hope of fitting on a slant.
I've go no problem relocating anything, whether it be a brake booster or oil filter.

There's obviously an untold amount of planning left before we can get an idea of fitting it just yet, but I like having things started

Now one would think, eww series 1 backend.
We'll be swapping series 2 rear into it, the man who built my 242gt said he's done it before without too much fuss (damn good with that kinda thing!)

Before the year is out, I'd like to have this motor built, comfortably putting out ~350rwhp and the car made to handle it.

I reckon the budget line will have to be set pretty high =/

Apart from the 16v head and the B230FT block, everything else is about as set in stone as writing on a napkin, We'll be trawling the 16v threads and picking the brains of a few people on here no doubt, mainly on the 16v stuff, as tom760t ( my brother) built his turbo engine without too much fuss.

Okay, the black car isn't quite done yet, but not going to post full pictures of changes until near completion, but I'm looking into what set of wheels I'll be using on it, currently I have the Geminis on it and well, they're pretty mad looking, but they belong to my 242gt

Like so
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y214/atomicmorgoth2/carandmav.jpg

Some wheels I am warming up to are these:
I am leaning on a black wheel, red stripe combo with the black car, I'll be repainting the 142, but still in black ^.
Also if anyone can suggest some nice wheels apart from the ones below, keep in mind I'm in aus, so I wouldn't bother buying internationally.

140's & the 5x108 bcd 1800's are 40et.

With the exception of the 75 164 which is 25et.

RWD rims fit correctly on the 140's

Alright, I've now decided that black wheels wont look how I want.

I'm in the market for some fat spoked (5) white wheels with dish, max size of probably 17x8, I don't want to munch the car really to fit them.

Must not be multifits if possible.

Anyone know where I can find them for sale in AUS? Or a decent place to ship to Aus?

This 142 has a decent set, they are the very smallest I'd settle for spoke size, I'd prefer bigger.

Anyone please post up some ideas of what you think would look nice, I'd like 5 spoke with dish if theres anything.
Budget would be up to $2000 with tyres new
