Was hoping someone would know, what this bag, found in the trunk of a 1979262C bertine, originally held, or what it is for.

It's 22 1/2 inches long, 14 1/2 inches wide at it's top, and 8 1/2 inches wide at it's bottom.

From the side view, it is 5 inches "thick" at the top & 2 5/8 "thick" at the bottom.

Appears as it holds something tapered, that is wide at the top, narrower at the bottom, in both planes.

Anyone know?

I think so too. But not sure if it wasn't for torage of some 'removable accessory".

It's too clean inside to have held the jack & stuff all those years. Though that's what I'll likely store in it. Or the fender cover, flashlight and stuff.

Might be for the portable air compressor for the compact spare. I have that same bag that came from a 1978 262 that I had to part out.

It looks about the right size & shape to store the (removable?) child restraint "wall" that goes between the front seats. It was an accessory.

I'm pretty sure it's just for the tools. I have a tan one in my car.

Where was it suposed to be placed? In the "butt cheeks"? Or did it hang from something?

Mine is so clean inside, I figured it held something else. maybe the tools were never put back in it?

Anyway, it'll most likely hold my "ground blanket" & Volvo Fender Cover. And maybe a spare shirt & pants, in case of car trouble.

I'd like to know someone that bought a 262C new, and ee if they remember what was in the bag. Seems a little too light of carpet for sharp objects. But likely is for tire tools.

When I bought my bertone it had the jack and a small pouch of wrenches and the lug wrench in it. Mine is easily as clean as yours is, guess they just didn't get a lot of use. The jack that came in it was the round black one with the crank handle so there was no sharp edges or points.
This jack is awesome for the garage/driveway where it will easily and quickly jack the car higher while allowing a jackstand to be installed at the factory jack points. They are terrible on the side of the road not that the later scissor jack is all that wonderful.

I should have thought of that. I have a NOS round jack too. Found it in the trunk of my 242 I sold. Yep, round jack would fit it well too. I'll have to do a test fit tomorrow. Thanks for brinking that up derosa!

I do know the scissor jack is useless if one has 205/60/15 tires on the car. Only if ya have a couple of 2x6 pieces does it somewhat safely raise the car high enough to change the tire.

My grandparents bought my car new and I'm sure it is for tools. Mine are all rusty because the trunk leaks. The compressor and deflated spare go in the "butt cheek" area but the car doesn't actually have butt cheeks.

Well, the OEM tube jack fits in it well. I placed one in the bag today.
