UPDATES ON PAGE 2

So I am new to the Volvo world and have been looking for the perfect wagon for about a month now and I finally found it!

A little history about the car, it's a 1976 245 that has only had two owners before me. The engine and trans were rebuilt in 1997. At the same time of the engine swap they did a respray of the original paint and there is only 75k miles on the engine and trans. I picked it for a killer price and this summer I have some VERY big plans for the car. Anyways, enough talk, here's the pix!

Wow-that's gorgeous. Please don't hack a car that nice...a nice set of wheels, maybe a GT airdam, and call it a day. Keep it waxed, and stay away from gravel trucks.

Nice car. Slight correction, 1976's were all gas from the factory. So, maybe the original B21F sounded like a diesel when the previous owner replaced the engine. Anyway, keep it stockish looking. Not to scare you from doing upgrades and improvements, but, don't turn it into the stereotypical T-bricker's car.

Because though zipties and jb-weld are useful, they have no place on a car like this.

Thanks for all the good feedback guys! Like I said I do have big plans for it, which some of you might not agree with, but don't worry I'm not cutting the springs! This summer my buddy and I are going to install an airbag set up on it. It will give me a nice ****** and keep the super comfortable ride. Other than that I'm not touching the car though. I'm going to keep the steelies that are on it with the beauty rings, probably powdercoat them black and I'm thinking I'm going to pick up a set of portawalls to give it whitewall tires, but I'm not for sure on that part yet.

Hmmm that's good to know, I'll have to call the guy I bought it from and do a little fact finding about the truth behind his story, either way it runs VERY strong and I'm incredibly happy with it

small update, I picked up some sweet chrome hub caps
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k30/staticsymbol/image13.jpg

then started polishing them: dirty vs. polished
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k30/staticsymbol/image14.jpg

then decided to take the black decals off the center since they were bubbling anyways

all done!

Thanks for all the comments guys! With spring break coming up next week I'm going to have plenty of time to get the wheels and tires all done. Going to finish polishing the beauty rings, have the steelies powdercoated black, and turn my tires into whitewalls. Pix to follow soon!

So it took about a week longer than I expected, but I have some good updates for you all! For the last two weeks I had the car on blocks while I got my wheels and tires all taken care of. I sent the wheels off to get powdercoated, polished all the chrome, and then got working on my fun tire project, enjoy!

http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k30/staticsymbol/image19.jpg

looks so sad now :(
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k30/staticsymbol/image20.jpg

my dirty dirty chrome
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k30/staticsymbol/image17-1.jpg

all better!
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k30/staticsymbol/image25.jpg

Before I could send the wheels off, I had to do a little sanding on the tires, taking some lettering off
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k30/staticsymbol/image22.jpg

half way there
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k30/staticsymbol/image23.jpg

all done
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k30/staticsymbol/image24.jpg

Once that was all done, I sent my ugly wheels off to get prettier
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k30/staticsymbol/image26.jpg

got the wheels back and I was SO impressed!
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k30/staticsymbol/image27.jpg

got the sanded tires back on
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k30/staticsymbol/image29.jpg

and then I started my big experiment! painting my own whitewalls using KILZ primer! Had to hand paint each outer edge very carefully and slowly
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k30/staticsymbol/image31.jpg

slow and steady
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k30/staticsymbol/image30.jpg

http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k30/staticsymbol/image32.jpg

one coat done!
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k30/staticsymbol/image35.jpg

testing the chrome out
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k30/staticsymbol/image36.jpg

two down
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k30/staticsymbol/image38.jpg

three done
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k30/staticsymbol/image39.jpg

and all four! a few more coats and I'll get them on the car!
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k30/staticsymbol/image41.jpg

So I know not everybody will like the whitewall look, but I'm so happy with how well it turned out, I've gotta get some sleep tonight and get two more coats on tomorrow then back on the car!

Man thats gonna look real good, hopefully you can keep them clean cause WWs are a bitch to keep clean. Have you had the wheels sandblasted ?

Most tires with white lettering have a white rubber ring all around just behind the black face, you can sand that down also getting a white wall to appear.

Hey man . . . .as long as you like it . . .Fugg everybody else. That has to be one of the nicest 245's left around. post up some pic's of your engine bay, curious what engine they swapped in.

I'm picking up a 82 or 83(don't recall the exact yr) white on blue clothe 245Ti manual from my Swedish buddy out of Cali. I thought that car was super clean until I saw your's. . . .what ball park did you steel it for ? Be watch'n to see what else you do to it.

From what I read on some hot rod forums about using the KILZ, I guess it will stay white for years, we'll see happens though! Yea the powdercoater sandblasted them as well before coating them and they turned out great. I've heard that about the white letter tires, and if my tires would of had the white lettering that would have been a lot easier, but unfortunately, they were just all black.

So I'm pretty sure it's the original motor in there, the guy misinformed me about the whole diesel thing, but I don't doubt that the engine was at least rebuilt when they did the paint job and everything, I'll post some engine bay shots soon though. I actually picked this car up for $2000, still can't believe I found it for that price!

yeah that's cool
