Looks like an R-sport rear seat? Is this an odd one,or just one I have never seen? Either way,VERY cool looking

Seems to have climate control back there, too!

Mother-in-Law seat?

I've seen them on several grandpa cars, just not with that seat cover. Pretty neat.

Just looks like a 3rd row seat with a cover on it, I really doubt that seating for small children in the back of a wagon would be an R-Sport thing. :e-shrug:

They can be useful tho, I remember sitting in one of those in my parents old 245, getting funny looks from everyone was good too.

That's a rad seat cover.
I had a Volvo child-seat in my childhood from 91' with the exact same pattern.
Too bad the 245's 3rd row seat is in tan..

it is the factory fabric on the seat, snapped on to the seat, made in Sweden tag on it. I thought it was cool looking,we use ours for our kids all the time...If my car was red,I would want this one,the pic does it no justice, looked brand new.I did snag the factory hitch, and some other goodies tho... :)

Yea I rode in a friend of mines wagon with those seats in it. We called that seat the seat for the "retards". Its cool piling like 7-8 people in one car "legally" thou, Hahaha

lots of wagons back in the day had them... when I was a kid we called it the "back back seat"... loved sitting in them when I was a kid... my grand'rents even had one where 2 benches folded out along the windows.

my '86 765 had one... but kiddies where to young to ride in it... they'd love it now lol...

I've had two with that exact cover. It is a stock Volvo offering.

Yup, my '91 745 came with one in it. Seems like a great idea till the kids you strap into it try to fill your spare tire well with hurl on a curvy road. On a brighter note, it could be used as a location to store drunken friends while doing donuts (assuming the whole hurl in your spare well thing isn't a turnoff).

its the r-sport seat cover. someone posted a brochure that had it in it a while back. the seat is no special thing, although i sold one on craigslist for like 175 last year.. i got it for free :ninja:

I miss my wagon. Friend would sit in te 3rd seat and is do some donuts and try to make him hurl. He loved taunting ricers back there too.

When I had my R Sport Seat Covers in my estate, i was trying to find these extra seats in this shade to match.

And just after i scrapped my estate and put the R sports in my saloon, a set came up for sale.

They're not R-sport seat covers, but they're a similar looking pattern and material. They were an accessory offered for the late 7's early 9's. Most people seem to have opted for the leather/vinyl to match the car seats, but if you didn't care about that these were the cheaper option. They button over the foam panels over the metal frame of the third seat, so if you already have a third seat its easy to swap covers.

I tossed one when I moved since no one wanted it. I've seen a half-dozen or so in yards since I bought mine thinking it was an R-sport cover only to learn it wasn't.

Just one you've never seen. I have a 82 245 with one. There's just nothing like sitting right on top of the 16 gallon gas tank

Mine had those before i pulled them out to build amp racks

Sleepy240 and Dr.Warren call this the rumble seat!

what JY was that?

03-11-2011, 02:25 AM
I always wanted to pull on another car with someone riding back there waving as you drove by. The donuts sound like fun too.

The let you take a passenger racing with you at the local 1/8th mile strip, but im pretty sure that person has to sit shotgun. That would be a great place to put a buddy for some weight over the rear tires at the strip!

Buy that seat and spraypaint it gold....
