Some time ago, someone posted a pic of their car with leaf blowers attached to intake, and claimed power gains. IIRCC, we all laughed at him?

Well , just for S*** & giggles.....................................

Check out the June issue of HOT ROD MAGAZINE, page 78. Looks like the laughs on us...to a degree.

True, better performance is easy, but I didn't think it would amount to an appreciable amount.

Check it out

i never laughed at him, there's a video with a chevy truck on a dyno that shows a clear power increase. it works just like any supercharger, boost the motor, get power.

My brother used to work at a shop that repaired commercial vacuum cleaners. He called me one day wondering if you took the vacuum cleaner motor and attached a hose on the blower side with a 110V power inverter and a switch inside the car would work.... I was like WTF but actually I give him credit for a pretty smart budget power increase idea. He never tried it but hey, ill leave it to TB.

That won't work. I'll leave it as an exercise to the reader to identify the key difference between that common stupid idea and ye olde leafblower charger.

Create boost until you figure out a self powered fan can't do that. Basically a pin wheel.

Yea, one is gas powered and probably generates more CFM however the electric motor would be powered by a 12vdc to 110v power inverter. Why would that not work?

Where's that 12vdc coming from?

...standard voltage in all automotive applications AKA cigarette outlet unless you have an old car that operates on 6vdc.

What you're suggesting would require greater than 100 efficiency in the alternator->blower circuit.

What you're suggesting would require greater than 100 efficiency in the alternator->blower circuit.

What you are forgetting about is:

last time I checked, pretty much all cars run a battery.....

you wouldn't want or need the blower to run 100% of the time...(do you run WOT all the time??)

I'm not saying it would be ideal, but they can and do work...

not enough amperage ... you'd smoke the wires
