hope i'm in the right spot, i came across a set of very clean 18"x8" pegsus r volvo wheels, and tires. the deal was made. (very cheap). my question will these tires and wheels fit on a lowered 240? do i need adapters? will i need adjustable panhardbar and bending the lips of the fenders? just asking. they came off a s60. thank you in advance. -Dana

yes, yes and maybe. maybe someone will post the specifics on adapters, you will need at least 25mm in the back, 25mm is proper for the front, but... i dont know.

you can run them with just a 25/32 spacers and roll the fenders a little then lower it iirc

18x8 ET15-20 front and ET10-15 rear is what I"d aim for. ET20 will fit in the rear. The wheels are ET46. So you could run the commonly available 25mm or 32mm adapters on the front. Same for the rear. Front won't have clearance issues with the fender unless you put a really big tire on, or lower the car a lot. Rear will need fender lip trimming/rolling...more as you push the wheel out further or increase tire diameter. 225/40/18 is a good size on a 240. 235/40 can fit if that's what come on them.

That red 240 looks pretty sweet and I'm not a fan of huge wheels on cars not designed for them originally.

Funkee, I may be mistaken but I think my dad had those lenses from the factory on his Canadian '76 242.

ALSO to above people making fun of Pegs: Phtpthhtpttpttttd :-P

Well all of those 240s were designed for 14s so I think + anything is in the right direction.

Theyre FWD wheels, they should stay on a FWD.

By FWD you mean fail wheel drive?

Technically they came with an AWD car (P2 R). I will concede it is based upon FWD, but I can still do an oversteer on-throttle drift in the snow in my R and that's REALLY what I like about RWD... lol.

thanks to all who replied, the tires are 235 40 18. the pics of the red and orange 240 i think look great, and i think they are a great improvement over the stock 14"s on it at this time. will it matter on 25mm or 32mm spacers with the 235 40 18"s? thanks again,
-Dana

I dunno... after twenty years, those old Cibie taillight lenses look like that anyways.

I put an 18" Peg on the front of my 940 and it looked like crap and made the brakes look TINY and so I sold em. Its like seeing that 7" drum brake on the back of a Honda with big open wheels. Looks like ASS.

I dont think 240's even really look good with big wheels at all.

Looks like 164 tails. There is a pair at the junkyard right now, but with a few cracks.

This is obviously not a reason to get rid of the wheels... it's a reason to put a big brake package on! :-P
