Ok people,

There it is my First 200, a beautiful, slow as HELL 1982 Volvo 260 Diesel.

I just spent half of my day pulling out the interior and cleaning it, i also wax the car today.

The build will be in 3 Stage

-First stage

-Taking that POS motor and trans out
-Building a mild B21/B19 16v Turbo
-Swapping the trans, possibly T5
-Upgrade brakes

-Second Stage

-Upgrade the suspensions
-Gutting the interior
-Caging it
-New fuel System

-Third stage

-Rear end swap
-LS1 swap + Turbo
-Custom engine management

Enough talk, to the pictures :

augh, diesels are so goddamned rare, why is it people always rip them out? gah, hurts my soul.

why couldn't you have gotten a Gas one?

Looks lovely btw, as does the golf, and I highly approve of manual 850.

Yet you're planning on swapping in an LS1?

You must know someone.

diesel passenger vehicles are not subject to smog...

who cares? They are slower than a n/a gas 240 and get marginally better mpg. Misery from driving one should be reason enough to swap in a nice engine. Doesn't even have a volvo engine in it to start with.

Next thing you know, you will be complaining because someone is modding a RARE '75 242

Hi

Just one question

Why would you build a Volvo B2** engine and fit a t5 and then rip it out and put a LS1 in a later date

Why wouldn't you leave the diesel in there save the money and spend it putting the LS1 in

I want to build a red block, and for around 1k, i should be about to do the first swap, im just gonna get it drivable, that diesel is SOOO BADDDD you have no idea, i can barely do 65 with it.

Also Pick and Pull half off week end is coming up...So full motor : $150, 16v head : $38 :D

I need to finish me 850R first :pow:

I would agree automatic d24 are painfuly slow. Having a m46 behind it and its not bad at all. I was getting 33mpg in my 240 and my 760 38mpg.

Looks like a clean car should be fun with b21 16v

Buy my B23 shortblock with 79,000 miles on it. 9.5:1 compression, strong rods, strong crank, its like a B21 but with more displacement. Perfect for tarbo chargin, strongest redblock made.

Im not a 100% sure on the LS1, but its a cheap/"easy to make power out of" motor.

I dlove to put a Hemi in there haha

Car is looking very good, but I must say I don't miss that inefficient slug of a motor it has.

Dude, I want that VW D24 engine! I've got like 20 of them but I want more. Its HARD to get parts for them. I love them.

If it's that slow, then it's not running right.

Biggest (really the only) problem with D24s and D24T's is that nobody knows how to work on them, so none of them are tuned right, which makes them inefficient, slow, and smoky, and gives them their bad rep. If you drove one that was set up right you would change your mind... when they are in a proper state of tune they are a completely different engine. Even a non-turbo D24 that is timed right, valves adjusted, good compression, synthetic oil etc is quite nice to drive. Torquey and smooth, even with the autobox. No problem doing 70, 80, or 90 on the highway. TD's are even better -- fast, quiet, great sound, cheap to maintain, and very good mileage. I get 32+ with my D24T/M46 760. You should be getting at least 27-28. If you are not, then something is wrong.

Don't junk the diesel drivetrain -- they are very rare nowadays and someone will want to pay you good $$ for it and keep it on the road somewhere. Or better yet, get it tuned up right and see if you like it any better... it might run well enough once it is set up properly that you will be happy to drive it as-is until you're able to get your V8 built, then pass the diesel along to someone who will understand its value and care for it.

Ugh! If only I had the money a month ago. Keep the diesel, they are super rare. Too many become gas powered, and such.

Benthefrench
03-29-2011, 06:06 AM
Ya, that's not happening, I looked for a diesel or a 75' for 6 months +

And again i live in California, i got the car so i don't have to pass smog.

I got a buyer line up for it, don't worry i wont junk it.

But i have NO interest what so ever to keep it or tune it
