there's a couple of guy's with those. They came on wagons mostly. Definately cool, but not as rare as you might think.

congrats on your purchase, wise choice.

Yep, the four round headlight setup.
IIRC, came on pre-1980 cars. They weren't just on wagons. When Volvo changed from the flathood, these were the first lights they used.
Nice looking car.

These were used on the US models from 1978-1980. 4cylinder wagons and four doors only. The 2 doors continued with the flathood till 1980. They are a cool look but I like the one 7" light better.

I picked the car up for 2000 good deal or no? The guy said he used the turbo from a 760 and ic from a 760. It gets up pretty good just needs some minor work ie motor mounts od needs fixed bushings nothing major.

quad rounds are where its at. they sometimes look really weird, as opposed to the squares which always look good no matter what.

The 4 round headlight system looks good on the Volvo but thats the classic look of the Bavarian Monster :

I believe the Datsun 510 had quad round prior to the bimmer. I may be wrong.

Funny, when I posted about wanting to do 4 rounds vs 2 rounds on my flathood a year ago everyone thought I was crazy. I really like how they look on Addicted242Boost's car. (then again his car looks about a foot lower than mine!) I'm honestly thinking about doing the switch. I just need an 83 flathood grille.

The Ford Edsel had quads way before that, of course it was also as ugly as sin.

"the 4 square setup sucks balls".

especally when combined with the tall upright grill and bulged bonnet. it's like someone took a big spade and smacked the front of the car.

This is what a 240 front end SHOULD look like................

That setup is what me hate volvos when I was a kid. A car shouldn't look like Darth Vader's helmet. That just ain't sexy.

The 240 is square - the square lights complement the car quite nicely, whether quad-US style or euro composite. The dual rounds also look good, and, on some cars, the quad-round can look good too, but many do not, IMO.

I thought about doing a hybrid quad-round using 7" outers and 5.75" inners. I like the quad-squares too much, though.

MikeHardy

the 240 isn't square, there isn't a right angle on the whole car, the 700 series is much more square then the 240.

I wish mine was flathood!!

But that is definately my favorite setup, I just need to find some for my 242 now.
