Trading one 240 for another 240

I'm new here so I will start with a little intro...

My name is Chris I have been around cars all my life. My Grandpa had is own repair shop, my dad and uncles are all mechanics. I kinda have it in my blood, guess that is why my last name is Carr. I always knew I would be doing something with cars when I grew up. I ended up getting into the car audio side of it early on. I have been doing my own radios sense I was 15 in my first car. I work at a very small shop here in Albuquerque and I have been doing it pro. for 6 years now. So that is just a little bit about me...

Now for the car.

I had a friend/ex-coworker come to the shop the other day. He came to see if one of us had a used radio to put in a '82 242 turbo he got given to him. I told him I would trade him for thr '95 240SX I have sitting in my driveway. He said he would think about it. My 240 has a new motor and a 5speed swap that is ready to go into it, his 242 doesn't run and he doesn't know what is wrong with it. For a Turbobrick I'm willing to take a chance...

The inside of the car is clean just the top of the back seat is faded.

My friend has gone out of town for a week so I have to wait to get it home. I have done nothing but think about what I want to do with this car. I have wanted a 242 as long as I can remember and I'm sure my fiancé is getting tired of hearing about this car.


I already have the stereo planned out, but that is mostly because I already have all the parts for it.

did you just say you are going to trade an S14 for a $500 242t? I'd do the motor swap in the S14, sell it for $2500, use the $500 to buy that POS volvo and use the other $2k to make it fast...

I also happen to know where its clone is (except for the intercooled part) :ninja: The guy that is selling it wants very little for it, but it needs a lot of work.

I was only doing a auto to manual swap if I want to do a motor start I would have to spend another $1700 or more on parts and if I were going to do that I would keep the car. As far as my friend selling his 242 he isn't selling it he needs a car to drive but he would rather have the nissan then the Volvo.

do what you want, it's your car, but an almost 30 year old, prolly rusty, stock kjet, volvo isn't worth as much as a 15 year old nissan 240sx 90% of the time
