Soooo I figured I'd give it a try. And it'd match the steering wheel too.
0.8mm thickness goat hide. (It has quite a bit of stretch which is critical)
Weldwood contact cement (apparently its THE cement to use with leather)
Scalpel blade
Scissors
Patience and being able to realize you will screw it up the first try.

Now for the seam, thats the single hardest part to get right.
I'm still not 100% happy with it, but I'll leave it be.

Thanks guys.
I might be willing to do this for people for a small fee.
Materials aren't expensive at all really.

Why not take the original cover off the knob and sew it as it was made originally? That'll last better.

If its like my M56 knob it wasn't really stitched, just molded plastic

Yeah roughly, there would be some sewing involved if I were to do it how I want.

I'd really like to do some testing on this though before I start wrapping shift knobs for people. I'd hate to have it come apart for some reason, unless someone wants to be the guinea pig.

Edit: damn triple post.
A new knob from the dealer is ~40$. PM me and we can work it out.

That looks great homer! What about stitching it down the seam? Or maybe the glue will be strong enough not to peel off over time.
