If you think about the crank HP, its closer to 150 per....thats almost as much as a stock engine.

MPG...60-65mph I get 33 and 75-80mph I get an average of 26

Nice, but needs more torque from 4000 to 5800 before i consider going to 16v or WB...

jk congrats that's a great amount of power... but you have to push it higher because your still playing in 8v territory.

91 pump with 60%water---40%meth. No E85 in my area. I bet torque would go up with that, or race gas.....and no real kock to speak of, so I bet timing could have been tweeked....but at the end of the day....its still a daily driver. Heck, its almost a 2.5 hour drive to the Dyno alone!

i did not realize this was your DD that's pretty pimp. Do you run two tunes?

like stated a few post down from yours....its all in the tune. I have the cruise area dialed in running closed loop, and when I want power.....the tune is good in the boost section.....so there is no map switching. I do have a Tru boost, so I can dial in 3 stages of boost, so I dont run 25psi all the time!

Im looking at tuning the cruise side of the map in open loop and leaning it out some from the 14-14.5 swing I have now, to a 15.5-16 or so while in a steady state of running. The program I have has areas where I can determine open loop/closed loop paramters at certain load factors and rpm.

Or if I trusted my wideband enough, I can simulate a narrow band signal and determine my own switch point voltage....then run closed loop while cruising, and run open loop at idle and dial in closer to 14.0 or slightly richer....seems these cams like a little extra fuel while idleing.

Could possibly squeeze 30mpg at 75mph......Ill see what I can do while cruising to Davis!

Oh yea, and forgot to mention, the alternator brushes took a crap on the drive home! Was able to take out and "mess with them" and it charged the rest of the way home....so today Im looking into modding a GM alterntor in there.

Nicely done. Must be a beast to drive. Congrats!

Still have the stock 940 unit....stock pulleys too. I had this problem when I bought the car...the brushes were wore out. So in less that 5k miles, another set is gone. The brush closest to the bearing is gone the most....and the armature is really rough. Im going to the yard to get a replacement brush set to get me though monday.....I have a CS alternator here Ill look at today about modding on there.

You got something in mind?

Nicely done. Must be a beast to drive. Congrats!

Actually, I have not really. I have hammered on it in the 18psi range...which netted like 389whp.....same as before (well close) so since I had such a long drive to get home, I just drove like normal...then the alternator took a crap...so nothing much above 2500rpm at this point! Ill get that fixed today. Dial in a little less boost and maybe pull some timing so Im not on the ragged edge and really drive this thing.

The cruise tune is the hardest part, especially the transition into power, but it can be done.
Your car is one of the reasons that I think I will still be at Davis this year.

Silver....I was anticipating today not going with the cost of fuel....but if you wanted to ride with me an my buddy, that sure would save on the fuel bill!

ECMLink (newest version of dsmlink) has a cool closed loop feature that uses fuel trims to dial in the cruise tune. Im in the +/- 3 percent during cruise for stoich. Im tempted to run open loop during the cruise to Davis and tune for 15.5 or so just in the cruise loadfactors and rpm range

Tip in good and the transitons are smooth. I need to tune the low boost regions for a 12-1 range to gain a little off boost power. it dips right into the 11-1 range in the 1-5psi range. This will help with spool a little too.

On my 8 valve I could get good cruising performance and MPG running about 16:1. Much more than that it would buck from being too lean, but with your 16v you may be able to get away with running it a little leaner than that even.

Thats good to know..Aaron said I could go that high, I thought I would be conservative. Im not sure what I could squeeze out of a good freeway cruise...but to get 30mpg would be just awsome. Either way, its 18 around town!
