As a few of you might remember, I blew my B230ft up last year after an unfortunate wastegate failure. I didn't blow the HG, but the Koolaid man made several appearances.
Well, here's what it looked like today when I finally tore it down (yes, it was very, very windy outside).
Do I get a prize for the most blown up B230FT?
Taking the engine out the easy way. Down-n-out.
The 244 is my DD. You'll be seeing more of it at Davis, with a few more mods. :oogle:

Passenger side Koolaid.

Driver's side, by the starter. This also ruined my starter.

Bent the crank. Yes. I. Bent. The. Crank.
This pushed the crank seal housing down, snapping some of the bolts off, and bending others. The aluminum literally shattered.

Dead pan. Ignore the other stuff for now.

Rod #4 severed the intermediate shaft, throwing a piece out of this rear freeze plug and into the bellhousing. Goodbye flexplate, oil pan, starter gear, and engine-to-transmission brace.

3/4 pieces of the intermediate shaft.

Snapped the oil pump in half, too.

I didn't just vent the block, I vented the cylinder.

#1 is bent.

#2 is bent. Ignore the dirt.

But wait! #2 swings both ways.

#3 is gnarbars.

Another view of the #3 rod. It's a souvenir.

My AW71 seems to be ok, except for the flexplate being thrashed.
Well TB, that's what I've been up to today. I wanted to work on the 244 more to get it ready for Davis, but the yellow needs to go to the scrapper soon.
