As a few of you might remember, I blew my B230ft up last year after an unfortunate wastegate failure. I didn't blow the HG, but the Koolaid man made several appearances.
Well, here's what it looked like today when I finally tore it down (yes, it was very, very windy outside).

Do I get a prize for the most blown up B230FT?

Driver's side, by the starter. This also ruined my starter.

Bent the crank. Yes. I. Bent. The. Crank.
This pushed the crank seal housing down, snapping some of the bolts off, and bending others. The aluminum literally shattered.

Rod #4 severed the intermediate shaft, throwing a piece out of this rear freeze plug and into the bellhousing. Goodbye flexplate, oil pan, starter gear, and engine-to-transmission brace.

My AW71 seems to be ok, except for the flexplate being thrashed.
Well TB, that's what I've been up to today. I wanted to work on the 244 more to get it ready for Davis, but the yellow needs to go to the scrapper soon.

vince has an engine block (non volvo) at his shop that has a crack going all the way around it, no holes if remember correctly, but still pretty impressive.

Why is the yellow getting trashed?

I really love the 190 yellow 240s, plus its a wagon, but it just needs too much work. The rocker on the right side is a little crunched, both rear quarters have had a little bondo work by previous owners, the windshield is broken, etc. Oh, and the interior is a poop brown. If you want it though, come pick it up. You'll have to tow it, obviously, as it has no engine/tranny.

Now we need to have someone blow the entire top end of the block off and send it and the head flying through the air.

Mine wasn't as bad.

Smallish hole (that puked out part of the int shaft) on the drivers side, and scrack that ran back to the beather box hole.

Slightly larger hole on the passenger side, with cracks radiating out from it (and going through the front motor mount bracket, which was broken as well).

Mine was still running afterwards, just no oil pressure because of the busted int shaft. If I'd had a regular head on it I'd have probably attempted to drive it back home - only about 2 miles away. But I had the ported big valved 531 head on it and didn't want to trash it.
