I recently found a 242 turbo for sale in my "neighborhood" and asked for a 242 turbo buyers guide. Well I finally got a hold of the owner and found out the following information on the car:
1981 Volvo 242 Turbo imported from Europe
Black
owner asking $1000 obo (sounds desperate)
sat for 5-6 years
it runs
has an intercooled Garret turbo
4 speed manual with working overdrive
lots of surface rust, but no major dings or dents on body
original silver rims in very good condition
functioning sunroof
odometer broke at 116,000 miles
one rusted passenger side rocker
Does this sound like a good buy? Let me know what you "gurus" think since I'm still learning about the turbos.
Meeting the owner tomorrow Aug 18th for a test drive.
