Just got these on tonight & went for a short drive. The springs are ipd's, rated at 520 lbs for the front, & I had on KYB's before this. These are a heck of a lot better! The KYB's couldn't control the springs, both handling and ride are much improved! Now I just sit a little too high in front, & I need to stiffen up the rear a bit. I'm figuring a set of Bilstein's to go w/ the ipd springs back there, as the R-Sports are no longer available. The rear's are rated at 125 lbs, any other suggestions for shocks?

lol, we could only get it to move an inch or two by sitting on the front quarters!

Wow, 520 lbs on the front? Is that correct or did you mean 250. Just curious. For rears, Bilsteins should work fine, maybe Koni's if you want something stiffer. I don't know specs or part numbers for 122's...

I really doubt IPD had springs rated at 520lbs/in, I have 450lbs/in up front and it already stiff like a mother****er.

I'll take some pics of the tags that come on the springs for y'all tonight. Each spring was individually tagged & rated. The exact spring rate & load rating was on each tag. Believe me, they feel like 500 lb. springs. I took it for a litte drive last night, & yeah, they are STIFF, BUT they ride better than the KYB's simply because they can handle the spring rate. It's not a car I would want to take a long distance trip in, or my mom around town, but it suites my tastes just fine.
When I emailed John Parker (Vintage Performance) about spring rates on his progressive front springs, he thought they were more in line with the race springs that ipd used to offer. I got this set in '99?, '98?. It was the last time they advertised 140 springs for their vintage sale in the spring. So maybe I got a set of race springs? Who knows. I'm happy with 'em & it corners flat as a board now. I also got a 22mm front bar from ipd the last time they offered a front-only bar. The current set uses a 25mm front bar w/ a 19mm rear. Pretty soon I will have nothing but no-longer available parts on my car! At least it will be unique!

Please note that the spring doesn't sit at the end at the lower a-arm as they do on a Mc-pherson strut car, it makes the springrate something else....
Iv'e got R-Sport rally dampers on my 140 too, but the bushings are soo bad so it's still a little bit comfortable :)

i get thta on my RM-7 too, everyone say god why have you got a 700lb/in spring on therem, and i say cause it's a linkage driven shock not a single pivot.
meaning cause the 100 series A arm suspension puts more leaverage on the spring (spring point in the middle) then the Macpherson system (spring point at the very outside) it needs to be harder

I was going to ask what the wheel rate was...anyone know for a 140?
Probably around half that spring rate or less at the wheel.

yeah interesting that the wider wheels you use with less offset the softer the spring rate is gonna be.

This I honestly don't know. But, here are the pics of the tags that came on the springs.
