I just want to get a rough idea of how many 16v turbo's we got floating around on the forum. I'll start:

242 16v turbo, holset hx40, megasquirt, getrag 265.

I'm building mine now. Been a long process and won't be done for a while.
Block is worked over already. I may be building the bottom end this weekend. (I'm vert mounting the engine)

I need the T5 and the turbo is probably going to be a gt35r. Not sure on EMS yet.

93 245. Junkyard fresh 16V head with new valve stem seals, squirter block with h-beams and forged pistons, MS1, GT3076R knockoff, log mani, 8V intake, T5 trans, running on E85 with 1000cc injectors, NPR intercooler.

http://webpages.charter.net/muddybiker/Volvo/Engine/IMG_4553.JPG

Coming up this spring - V2.0 of the motor. Featuring a Nathan intake manifold, A Kenny/Heebspeed worked 16V head, some gnarly cams, solid lifters, a cool looking rams-horn style header by jao, MS3X (with DSM CAS to free me from that LH2.4 flywheel), COP ignition. And a lighter flywheel and stronger clutch of some sort. The red Clutchnet PP and Kevlar disc is no longer up to the task of handling flat shifts on the current HP level, much less the increase with V2.0.

Guys,

I was to mod my getrag adapter to fit behind my (soon to be) upright 16v. I layed a T5 adapter over the getrag plates and I can only make 2 holes for the vert setup. I guess I won't have any other choice that welding the palte to the bellhousing in the upright position. Just looking here if it's been done before?

Does having a HUUUGE box of shiny parts and a '72 142 waiting for them count? Moving states, into a smaller garage, and having a second baby girl(3 months and 21 months) has put my project on the back burner. I will say, it will be a pretty sweet project thread one of these days...

And the fact that the B234F block mounts a completely different way, you have to have a crossmember out of a stock 16v car. And for 240 guys that never happened.

Anyone know the whereabouts of this 84 242? It's out there, so I'll add it to the list. I saw it on eBay a couple of years ago. I went to look at it in Riverside, CA. The owner said he built this engine before 16 valve heads came on production cars in the U.S. from virtually all Volvo parts. The head and cams are Penta, crank is from 2.5l Penta, pistons and rods were custom IIRC. B204FT exhaust manifold with larger turbo. For some reason, I don't know why, I didn't step back and shoot a pic of the front end, cause it's a flathood built from all european parts. It also had Gemini wheels, T5 trans, R-Sport steering wheel, full complement of gauges, and rear seat headrests. The owner had/has a shop in that area, I don't remember the name, and he said he built three of these cars back in the day, this one, a white one and a blue one. He had access to the european & Penta parts cause his mom worked for Volvo corporate. In fact, he said this car was in a magazine before he got it, with SOHC turbo, I believe to promote the introduction of the Turbo+ kit released around that time. It had the personalized license plate KWIK BRK or KWK BRIK. I couldn't scrape together the measly $2300 he wanted for it and it slipped away.

He said that he did a bunch of r&d on the air flow meter with bondo before finalizing the contour in aluminum. No megasquirt back then. Did that MSD box have a vin on it? How do you know it came from this car?

I bought this car! :-P
It was a AQ171 Penta motor all stock internals and a t3 turbo, he told me there was after market forged pistons, but when i took it all apart everything was stock AQ171. Everything done on it was incredibly clean the 16v with Kjet looked factory. I got it running after a couple of days with messing with it, ran pretty good. It was sitting for 10+ years, the turbo was blown, when you step on the gas smoke would blow out the tail pipe so i decided to replace the turbo, which turned into pulling the motor and inspecting the inside and 2 pistons where broken. Car came with a bunch of extras in the trunk, Penta cams, and 8V H cam (in the original volvo box), brand new in the box headlight lenses for the European headlights and a bunch of factory manuals. The harness was pretty bad, im actually in the process of building a high compression 16v with itb's.

The trispokes is what was laying around with tires on at that time, reartires have a tendency to go bold very quick. Normally its compomotives in the back to.

Its running on E85, @ 2,6 bar of boost.

A piston broke, guess that is about the limit for stock turbo pistons, ordered a set of wiseco now.
Its a stock b234 block by the way, custom crank, verdi h-beam, arp in top and bottom, etc.
It is for sale if any one wants to kill them selves.. :)
