I had to make a trip down to Texas a couple of weeks ago and stopped to look at thevolvokid's 1970 142s that he had for sale. The car was in such good shape that I couldn't stop myself from picking it up on the way back home.

Cody and his dad are really great guys, and had it all ready to load when I stopped by. After talking for a little while, we loaded the car up.

It was a long drive home through Oklahoma -

And even longer through Kansas -

Got it home and unloaded. A couple of o rings in the Strombergs and a new set of points and the car fired right up. Now it's time for a really good stage 0 and a little bit of driving before I start turning this car into my summer ride and autox car.

If that car wasn't so far from me, it would have been mine, not yours. Congrats. :)

I'm so glad that I happened to be driving through Oklahoma with a trailer for work. The car is very solid and actually runs pretty well with fresh gas in it. :)

Well, look at my screen name and avatar and you KNOW I like this car. I like the rear-view mirror shots of the 142 on the trailer. Looking forward to seeing more pics of this car and what you do to it, since I'm planning to autox my 70 142 as well. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks, it really is a clean car. I am surprised it didn't sell faster.

I love the look of your car. Do the 14" minilites fit pretty well? I'm not planning anything to crazy on this car. The first focus will be getting the car to where it can drive safely, and then I will try to improving the handling and brakes and swap for a t5 trans. The last part will be trying to get a few more hp out of the engine.

Sweet. So you were actually on the clock with a trailer to boot and having your expenses paid for when you got this? I think you should be buying a couple of lotto tickets this week.

Yeah, that was a pretty lucky break. Company paid fuel, hotel rooms, and food. They treat me right for all the time I spend on the road working with customers.

Some new wheels and tires for Princess Sputtercup as the 142 gets closer to being ready for the road.

Looks like it needs to be lowered about an inch to look right to me.

The 544's are resting while I get the 142 ready for summer driving.

Man that's great you picked up this beast from Cody. He was real excited he got someone to take it off his hands. It really was pretty clean. Good luck with the car.

Hey I just found this thread! How's the car running these days?

I'm really glad you gave this a good home.

I sold this car to my brother who loved it a little more than I did. He has slowly been working on it. I'll get him to post up some pics.
