I am thinking of hauling this thing up to MVP in portland to get my b230ft turning out just above 200hp at the flywheel. not a cheap endevor. a 1500 mile round trip. I am so close to having my 122tic kicking A on most cars out there. not to mention those 5.0s The question I ask is am I crazy, or not.

Don't bother taking it up to MVP, just buy parts from them, and other places and get them installed by a local shop (if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself). A boost controller, Cam, and exhaust should get you to 200 crank hp easily.

Please take it to MVP- For the IPD meet! I'd love to see it! :)

No dealer or volvo repair shop will touch the car because it's too custom. I am going to take it up there around christmas. my parents live about 5 hours from portland. I'll take the wife and kid, so my kid can spend christmas with grandma and grandpa. then I will pick it up at the IPD show in may. That should give them plenty of time. As far as getting the car up to 200hp, I know that won't take much. It's just that the guys that put the engine in did a good job doing the custom fab work, but they suck when it comes to working on volvos. Who knows maybe I'll get to 250hp. Can you imagine that in a car that is only 1600lbs and a 4.10 rear end.

will is still be up for sale/trade at that point? Or are you just fixing it and keep ing now? I'm guessing the latter.

aardvark122tic

Yes I am going to keep as of now. everytime I try to sell it I feel like I am selling my child. Besides I think I am the only 122 with a b230ft in it in the states. thats a driver. The only other one I have seen is a shell and is still in process of being done. I can't wait to knock the smiles off all these honda drivin college boys. I am thinking of having the stock wheels widened and putting them back on to make it even mor of a sleeper. What do you think.

So, seeing as the car on volvoeh.com of yours is red and this is green (in the engine bay) please do not tell me you have 2[size=12:bc49106efb][/size:bc49106efb] turbocharged Amazons. That is far from fair. I really need to do something cool with one someday.

First let me say Thanks to all of you for your word of encouragement. All I need to do is visit turbo bricks for a day and I'm all geared up to keep up the ultimate turbo volvo project. You guys are awsome. Next, no I don't have 2 amazons. The red one on volvoeh.com is one in salt lake city that I took the photos of. It runs but is not street drivable. It is a sedan and is what gave me motivation to start mine.

TOTALLY keep it. Certainly one of the best looking Amazons around, plus it goes like stink. Amazing. Are you in SLC, too?

I saw your bikes on ebay, by the way. Totally cool. SIngle speed is the way to go! The simplicity is just so great. Wish I needed another bike.

Kevin,
The wiring was one of the worst parts. I did not do the install, but the guy that did said that the repair manuals schematics did not match up so he had a terrible time geting it all dialed in. Thats why I am thinking of taking it to MVP. If I were to do it again I would do a high compression b23 with dual webers. You would just need some custom intake adapters made, but that would be a lot less then everything it takes to get a b230ft in.

It never ceases to amaze me how much money you save when you do the work yourself

(not knocking you or anything, just that I couldnt bring myself to trust anyone my precious vehicle. However your method most certainly has resulted in a very nice car!

ROCK ON

When you own your own business and you spend almost every waking moment there. It makes it hard to get anything done. besides when you trade bikes and stuff for work done on the car it makes it pretty cost efective. MVP is even willing to take some bikes for some of the pay. my license plate should read (traded 4 it) I have traded for almost everything on that car. But your right the bset way to do it is yourself.

John,

did things fall through with SVS?

Trade work is nice, all the paintjobs on my show cars have been trade for cabinet work. Actually, my cylinder head was done that way too.

Doug,
No things have not fell through with SVS. when I made those posts I had not heard from them yet.I talked to them last night for a while. They know there stuff and had some great ideas. They are not out of the question. So far MVP has given me a better Quote, plus they are willing to trade for part. I am in the process of working with some of my bike companys to see if they will sponsor the car. they pay for the mods and I logo the car out for a couple of years. and take to some events. So far Thule, the swedish roof rack company is in for part. I just came up with this idea the other day and so far it is going pretty good.

i don't think you meant to say that your car only weighed 1600 lbs, but if you did, please let me know how you shaved off 1000, since i would love to lighten my 122 wagon that much.

Well my 122tic is now at MVP. I dropped off yesterday (1-4-03) to paul and seth. So if anyone in the portland area that wanted to see my car in person, can go there for the next few months. They had some great ideas for it. The goal is to by May to have it all dialed in so I can have a nice friendly street drag with cameron's supercharged B-20 122. ( if he gets his done in time). It should be interesting to see where the money will be best spent. supercharged B-20 122 or B230ft 122. (you make the call)

Ok doug I'll take that challange. As long as it is a straight line race,I should do ok. (note I didn't say win. I just said OK) If I had to turn much I think you would leave me in the dust. But after coming back from portland I should say leave me in the rain.

Doug,
Thanks for the info on SVS. But it just turned out better with MVP because they were willing to trade some of the payment for bikes. I will keep you posted on the progress. I think they are going to do a section in their projects page at MVP. I don't like to toot my own horn, but I am proud to say that I am the only 122 in the "turbo"bricks gallery. :D
