The story:
I've been living in Indianapolis IN for about a year and a half now while I go to grad school. I was driving my 1989 244gl until the transmission started leaking live a sieve last May. My parents gave me the "family loaner", a 1991 Mercedes 300te wagon, as an interim vehicle until I could find a suitable replacement. I've never hated a car so much in my life lol. The powersteering pump is about to explode (or at least it sounds like it) as is the transmission, only one speaker works (some times), heater kinda works, half of the exhaust system fell off, blah..blah..blah.
I've been wanting to purchase a 940 turbo wagon for some time now. My 2nd car was a black '83 245 turbo wagon that I love to death (still have it & still working on it). I need something to haul around all my art supplies and make home depot/junk yard runs. I also wanted something that has a heater (it's cold here), decent stereo, ac (it's also hot here), and a little more power :) .
Well, last Tuesday (Nov. 22) I found a grey 1993 up near Carmel wich is only about 30mins from me. I go to take a look at it, give it the once over, take it for a test drive, etc. I couldn't be happier. The engine runs smooth, brakes work fine (a little squishy but not horrible), suspension is solid, interior is worn enough that I can toss stuff in it and not worry but still comfy. The only issues are the front strut rod bushings need to be replaced and the driver side tail light is out. Overall, it was the right car for the right price.
I go to pick up the car today. Try to start it and....... NO GO!! Hmmmm..... Try again and... it won't turn over. Cranks but won't fire. CRAP!! After trying a few more times the battery starts to die. Unfortunatly the guy I purchased the car from isn't there, the car is at his parents house. My mom (who drove me to pick it up) knocks on the front door, wakes his parents up (oops), and asks to borrow some jumper cables.
After a few more tries....FINALLY it starts. I let it idle for a few minutes to recharge the battery & confirm that all is well. We head out of the driveway and as soon as I give it some gas the engine cuts out. I let off and it idles again. Give it gas and it cuts out. $%!***!!!!!!!! I pull over, pop the hood and notice something that I didn't see before. The alternator belt is way loose and is clearly slipping. If I had a few tools I could fix it in a few seconds. But of course I don't.
So here we are, stuck with a car that won't drive 2hours and away from my shop and tools. I have to resort to calling a tow truck and tow it to a local shop. Right now it's sitting at Hash Imports:

It's a little embarassing not being able to fix this (hopefully simple) problem but I have no time, space, or tools with me. Totally sucks :(.
I've heard some good things about Hash & am hoping they can fix it soon so I can get her back home over Christmas and do some mods :D.

The planned mods are pretty standard so nothing crazy. This will be my daily driver until it or I die (or I find something better ;) ).

Replace the carpet, seats, etc. for black ones

Fix a few dents & dings. The hood and passenger side fender need a repaint.

Maybe tint windows?
