Yeah, i checked into that last night too....... Ghey. I wonder what we're going to do. That takes away my whole reason for going up to portland this weekend... Other than doing some other misc. stuff i need to do. But still, that takes away a lot of my motivation, because then it'll cost me that much more to take another freakin trip up to portland. Dang... Stupid ORG. Lol.

just asked that in the other forum. Saturday is 30% chance of rain, sunday looks to be dry. According to the forecast.

I'm up for it, rain or shine! Sunday may be better though, that way i can spend a little more time in portland... I dunno.

Tony,

Can we do the work day on Sunday? GF is doing "girly" stuff with her posse (shopping, trying on frilly things, talking smack about their guys), so I have the "day off".

As for Friday, I really wanted to see Mr. and Mrs. Kihlstadius go at it. The wager seems fair, but when I told Jill about it, she said just to keep the peace in your house, you should throw the race. I said poopy daipers or not, I would definitely NOT lose on purpose. It's a matter of principle man!

How about we check the weather report and keep an eye on it through Friday afternoon. If by 3pm it looks crappy, we can call it off. If it looks sunny or just overcast, we can still do it. Car will run better with cooler temps. Call me Friday at work before 3pm... 503-584-3887.

Now if I can just get PIR to let me race the wagon we're set.

I am curious also.
Do you not have appropriate battery cutoff switches? Although does Tony?

Whats the matter they dont want to see a wagon OWN everyone!? :)

Hope to be there Friday night also, John and I will be in portland grabbing a tranny and possibly other things. Depends on how late we are up there, what time would the races start? Are people gathering before then? I will talk to him about it also.

Does it cost money to watch? For some reason I remember it did.

$8 to watch, $20 to race.

Luke/Tye... they won't let me race the wagon because they said, and I quote: "you don't have a steel bulkhead between the battery and the passenger compartment and you don't have a proper battery cut-off switch mounted on the outside". They guy who told me this said it was NHRA rules. Funny they never said anything about the battery the first time I went there (I got turned away the second time I went there...)

I call BS. If PIR followed NHRA rules to the letter, half the cars racing there would not be allowed to race.

The battery is a sealed Optima. You can mount the damn thing upside down on the dash if you want and it won't leak.

And where the hell am I supposed to mount an external battery cutoff switch? On the tailgate next to the license plate? How about right next to the gas filler door on the sheetmetal? Their reasoning is that if they have to cut the battery cable (if you crash), they won't be able to get access to it. Tell me they'll be able to open someone's hood if they crashed!

I'm dying to race it because I did a 15.2 BEFORE I installed the LSD.

Luke... Admission is $20 to race and $8 to watch. If you're racing and you have a passenger, you'll just pay $20. If you're just watching, each person pays $8. Stop by GI Joes and get a discount coupon for $2 off both levels of admission.

hey nick, you can do a cutoff switch that hides behind the license plate, or even get a dummy taillight and link a rod through the taillight (which you've swapped on sincce you wanna go dragracing) to kill the battery when its moved. or you could just be sneaky and hide the battery

You guys forgot to mention the first time(this year) expense of "registering", well, i think that's what it's for, i personally haven't been out there yet this year. I think it's $10. Tony can you confirm this?

And Nick, yeah, they're ghey, two years ago i had no problems running my car at all, with a bungee cord holding down the battery, no electronic safety switch of any kind, (not the clutch operated one that they were telling andrew to have, or the exterior switch like what Marc has on his ITB car). It depends on who lets in your car i guess. Last year, i almost wasn't allowed to go out because my fuel filter was plastic and my fuel lines were rubber... And then my battery was being held down with a rope. But when I told her that i only want to run my car once a year and take not of it's progress, she was like, "Well, if you're only coming out once a year... I guess it's alright." And so I ran.

It's a wagon... license plate is on the tailgate. If anything I'll have to put something on the rear bumper, or rear quarter panel.

What would be really trick would be to have a panel behind the passenger side tail light's reflector (on the bottom)

Kyle, I don't have a clutch safety switch either... that could be yet another potential problem for me.

I think the rules must be getting harder to beat? When I was in HS, there were guys using pipe insulation to beat the roll cage rule. I dont think I ever heard of anyone needing a cut off switch? Maybe the NHRA guys have it figured out that hondas are all show and now go?

Inc3pt

I dont have a clutch no-start switch, I dont have a battery cutoff switch, I used a bungie cord tie down...and blah blah. I think they're just feeding you. :-(

$5 more than PIR. Shorter racing season. Maybe if they extend their season a bit, they can drop the racer fees under $20.

Next year I'll try it out.

I'm watching the Weather Channel tonight Tony, and I'll spend my day tomorrow with my fingers crossed (except when I'm typing and eating).

I think because of the wet conditions, this event is hereby cancelled. The huge rain storm that went through Salem about an hour ago (1:45pm) is now hitting Portland. There's no way that PIR is going to dry out by tonight. Not sure if PIR itself is going to open, but I personally choose not to race on a wet track.

Evan, why do you have to tow your car to the track? What's wrong with it?

:werd: But the tides have changed for me yet again... I will NOT be drag racing my car... I will NOT even be driving it at all anymore except for once every two weeks or so... I have less than $0... :-( :nono: :e-shrug:

I want to come with you guys though... Is Reefergal going to take the S70 in and get it checked out so she can kick yo a$$? Maybe she'll have them tweak it a little bit on the side too, just for that extra little kick to win... :badboy:

So, lostart, if you get a drag day, let me know. Since I'm a SoCal person too, I'll come out and see what my chunk of steel can run with the pretty new tires I got on today.

Pictures and Video will be up at a later time... But for now, here's the quick rundown:

Last night we went to the track, reeferman ran a 15.1, reefergal ran a 15.8, nchoy ran a 15.03. More specific details to come later. I'd prefer they said what they did... So I'll let them explain... If they do anyway.

So, since Nick busted his rear torque rod supports on his run that got traction, he won't be posting a 14 second run for this year. And that kind of discouraged Tony I guess, so he didn't pull out the 14 that he might have been able to run if he stayed a little longer...

And if you check the 2004 E vs. W thing, look at my last post. I think we're going to win this year! :-D
