That's right, a Halloween autocross at Atco Raceway, New Jersey.

The email read:

"We have decided to reschedule our 10/24/2004 Autocross Event at Atco for Sunday,
10/31/2004. As with all of our other events this season, this event will be at
Atco.
Atco has rescheduled one of their major events for Saturday 10/23, with a rain
date of 10/24. This event uses the parking lot that we run in, so if it did move
to 10/24, we would not be able to run our event. Rather than risk a late
cancellation (or a trashed parking lot from the 10/23 event), we decided to move
our event to the following weekend."

So get your car ready and show up. I'll be there.

Maybe I'll have the coilovers done and installed by then. Probably not, but I'll give it a shot.

If not, I'll have something you can drive.

Something extra skanky, no doubt. Clean those belts!

I did. You should have seen the clothes I threw away after the first autocross.

One more week, come watch me spank Towery again.

Maybe he'll let me drive his car, too. If I stop taunting him, that is.

Sure, if you think you can handle it. The Azenis are well seasoned. No tread squirm to speak of. If the sky is clear, I think I'll make the trip.

Like Mike said, I think the Berturbo will make the trip up as long as the skies are clear...couldn't hurt to autocross, haven't done it in forever! I've got the Azenis on it now anyway!

Cool. Make sure you ask me for a ride in Patches.

*edit: The UTI rep from this area will be there too, so if you want college info, ask. He'll be co-driving Patches in his first ever autocross.

We'll get down to a Richmond autocross some time.

Eamonn, did your VW friends go to the Bug Bash at the Atco drags this year? A bunch of VW guys at that event crossed over to autocross with us. It was fun.

That I don't know, the kids that are going here are in the Rutgers auto club. These are some good guys, one has an old rabbit, another an old gti. I am sure there are more of them going.

If they would allow a cookout I would bring scrapple, and chicken, and sausage.. The Pine Barrens district outlawed charcoal fires. Or so I'm told.

We can do manifold scrapple. Or 3" downpipe scrapple on Rob's, if you like it well done.

We had wayy too much fun. We went fast. We broke stuff 3 hours from home. We cobbled. We danced with merriment.

I did better than I thought...still not good enough, although my fastest run felt pretty good. I like the format, but 4 runs/heat would be wonderful. Or 3 in one, 4 in the other.

That was a huge crowd for Atco.
Did Rob have any trouble on the way home?

Delaware state had the highway blocked south of Dover, we had to detour.

No problems on the drive home...and we drove faster going home that we did coming up. Stopped once just outside of 495 to check things out, but it was fine, and we continued.

Nice pics Mike, 2 of 3 cars look good :)

And the trip home was fine, I figured out why it felt weird, causing me to pull over.
Since the right side now has less spacing, toe changes differently than the left. So hitting a bump w/both wheels caused some odd steering inputs...but I got used to it.

i didn't realize it was the wagon and not patches.

ben, mike was in patches and chris was in the 245....i might add you four guys did very well, rob winning SM and placing 27th overall, mikep getting first in STS and 6th overall, towery getting 4th in STS and 20th overall, and chris getting 8th in STS and 35th overall (hes shaping up quite well, eh?)

cant wait till next year!

towerymt

I finished higher than Rob in PAX, overall, but he had the faster raw time, overall.

If Mike had won STS in the wagon, I would have quit autocrossing! (against him)

That is the true definition of bump steer. What we call bump steer is actually toe change on bumps.

Chris was on 1999 AVS intermediates. Very hard. He also had a subwoofer and amp in the rear, and I told him to go easy and get used to the new springs. The rear upper arm bushings have about an inch of play each.

Rob, you drove it around the lot with the new springs. Any comparisons, Oh Dorifto-San?

Oh, yeah, and Chris beat me once at Jersey in the wagon. Alan Pozner rode with each of us Sunday, and was more impressed with Chris' driving than mine. He's a national driver/instructor. I just pose as an instructor to get free rides and drive other cars. *SHOOT!! I could have taken Towery's car on an instructor run...
