I saw this on jpstyling's website and it appears to be a 240 style volvo, but I do not recognize the fenders or what little of the front cap I see, is this strictly a european front cap?

I believe that is a 142.

Yup, that is a 142, precursor to the 242... Powered by either a b18 or b20 pushrod engine, some where fuel injected etc etc... Fun cars... look sweet too.

Yep, with 240 doors (look at the door handles, 142's stick out, 240's are flush)

I love the stance and color. Beatutiful! The 142 would be my 3rd choice as far as Volvo's go. 1800 1st, 242 2nd.

its a 142. it is hard to tell the year. the doors are of either a 74' 142 or a early 242. the front and rear side lights have been shaved. it has 72'- bumpers and 70'- grill. the trim is shaved. it also looks like the raingutters have been shaved.

very nice looking car

Looks like they got rid of the rain gutters also, or was that how the 142's are?

Nope. They switched to flush door handles in the middle of 140 production.

Ummm...not to be picky but '73 and '74 140 series had those door handles. '73 had vent windows, '74 did not, thus the determination that the doors are either '74 142 or early 242.... I would go with early 242 doors as the chrome trim at the rear of the window looks a lot like my '75 242.... It's got a pre-'71 grill and pre-'73 fenders. Hard to tell what year it might actually be....

It certainly is a 142, a heaps better looking car (IMO) than a 164.

Regardless, if you go to

http://www.volvocarclubnsw.com/

The Volvo car club of NSW > click on their gallery > 'Show and Shine, January 2002' > then go to the very last pic on the 2nd page.

Best 142 I've seen.

Dangit, you all beat me to the answers... :-( Lol.

So I'll just reinforce what's been said all into one post.
-First of all, this 142 is a BEAUTY! :-D
-It has a 70 and earlier grill
-72 and earlier bumpers
-74 or early 242 doors with older style rearview mirror
-shaved rain gutter
-shaved turnsignals
-side trim taken off and holes filled
-dropped on it's ass
-big wheels
-straight freaking car. I want it. Different wheels though...

And that's pretty much it. Coulda missed some things, oh well.

Kickass!

The green wagon is a 145 Express, dont know if you guys got that modell in the states, its kind of rare here in sweden.

Edit: The 142 has if im not mixing it up with a nother car a 2 litre 5 cylinder turboengine from an italian 850.

totally out of the blue.. my 142 that is a 1972 has flush door handles and the doors I am pretty sure are original.... so I think they started in 1972.. but I have some 69 doors I want to put on with some 67 handles (all chrome) I think they look sweet.
