We need to have a seattle area meet again this would be the kickoff meet for the new technical club. Are there any interested seattle area Volvo owners?

I am talking about the newest chapter of VCOA. This is going to be a more hands on club chapter that will deal with all aspects of working on your volvo from minor fixes to major tuning.
I am in the process of forming this new chapter and am looking for members that belong to the Volvo club of america, I need 12 members to start this chapter.
The old seattle area chapter went away quite a few years ago and is now run by wes Urbanic. They meet in fife wa. and this is too far for members up in the Seattle area to go to on a monthly basis.
So if you are interested in joining this chapter lets have a meet in january some time.
Thanks for your time

C'mon - you cats can't drive to Fife once a month or so? Not like it's Mongolia or something.
Just seems like there could be some way to work out a compromise with Wes for a Puget Sound area VCOA group, meet in the north-end south-end alternate months or something. Just think it makes more sense to build on the existing community rather than have a bunch of splinter VCOA chapters all within 30-40 minutes of each other. More members means more input, more participation, more $$ to do things with and more fun in general.
Just my thoughts.
Would be cool to do a Puget Sound get together some time in the not too distant future - outside of the VCOA, just another T-brick gathering.

I am getting this meet together for those that want to be more proactive with their volvos. I dont want to take away from wes but this chapter will deal with more mechnical aspect of volvos.
I like car shows too but one can only do so many.

How about martin luther king weekend? I am heading up to canada and that would be a nice stop off to see the stallion in his own habitat. Speaking of canada any of you boys want to lend a bed to 8 college kids for a weekend we can pay for some space on the carpet :x:

Actually, the new Puget Sound VCOA pres is Robert King. Very nice guy, he's got a bona fide flathood (and a 5.0L Mustang, but we won't get into that).
I'm torn about having a north end vs south end thing - I work in Kent, so I can easily get to Seattle in the evenings, but I live in Orting so I'm technically a south ender.
And I've been wanting to do a mini-meet forever, we just need somebody to step up and "host" it i.e. decide on a time and place and harrass/shame us all into attending.
As long as I know about a month or so beforehand, I can work it into my schedule.

I live in Olympia too. I would be down with going up to Seattle/Tacoma whatever say 4 to six times a year for some event. Why not set up several differant events? Like a swap meet/ performance recipe swap at on of the Seattle area Volvo dealers. Maybe like a picknic in like June. Oh I know how about reserving some time at the track in Bremerton this summer for some racing! Or some rice eating drag racing this summer. Maybe a dyno day someplace like they did in Portland?? Up meeting at a Sonic or Dicks Burger location just to look over each others mods and talk abbout ideals for other stufff?
