How is the weight difference between stock and this engine ???
I'm really interested in doing this... I've talked about it before as a joke but I did not know it was possible(i lknow everything is possible but you know what i mean)

ive only ever seen 2 engines like that in real life a 1000bhp supra and a 650bhp skyline soo id say that thing has big bhp any idea what it really has????
ohh an if you dont mind ive got to show the ricer lot what a propper engine looks like :-D
stylngle2003
11-15-2004, 07:05 PM
samy, that is not the same engine that is in a turbo supra, the engine shown is a 1JZ-GTE, a 2.5L TT engine which comes stock in non US Toyota Soarers (mkI Lexus SC300 here in the states)...while the Supra uses a 2JZ-GTE, a twin turbo 3.0L engine
skylines use RB26DETT's in GT-R form, 2.6L displacement, 2 turbos, similarly legendary build quality, etc
i'd be willing to bet that with 20psi from that big snail, JZ940's engine is putting out a very respectable 450hp at the flywheel

This JZ-GTE has more weight than a stock engine. I has a KONI shock for my suspension so it's help

That's Chris's Soarer, his parents live near Richmond but he goes to school in Lynchburg, it is a nice car, he used to have an S14 sr-swapped car with a silvia front end. Soarer's an automatic, but still pretty quick, been to the 1/8 mile a couple times with him, he was just at my house last week, we were working on his friend's S13 with CA18, put a tubular manifold, straight T4, etc etc.
Back on topic, I would love to have a 1j in my 142, hehe, I like the chrome volvo emblem on the cam cover!

hmm, that makes me wonder....From what i've read and some of the hear say on the volvo boards, aren't the 960 auto-dogs the same as a 2jz supra auto dog? I realize this is a 1jz, but does that bring it any closer to being possibly bolt on...assuming you modded the bell housing and had an adaptor fabbed.

Pm me with an offer, bellhousing really depends on who you get it from. You can also use a 2jz-ge (much more common) bell housing.

I love soarers.. but I hate getting beat by them. I get my ass dragged by a 93tt almost daily. makes me wonder why I dont have a 2.5tt swap lined up. so the jdm soarer redlines at what 7200 if I'm correct and the supra spins to a factory redline of around 6800? somebody fill me in here..

Hi. I was wondering how you worked out the transmission. Which one did you use and how well i did everything fit? I had a very similar idea but i was hesistant to tear up the transmission tunnel. Thanks

Looks good mate- can't argue with the strength and good design of the JZ series of motors.
Its a shame for u US guys, JZZ30 soarers are a dime a dozen down in oz- you can get a TT Soarer for well under AUD$10,000. Shame they were pretty much all auto.
The 2JZGTE has got to be one of the best motors ever produced.
