Nice work on your engine there! I would be very interested to see the whole car.

It sounds like you came to the right place. This forum is very open, friendly, and helpful. I have never been to the other forums as I am relatively new to the Volvo craze. (Never before knew that there were other people so crazy about these cars :)) But I hear that this one seems to be one of the best. So yeah, welcome to the board Rob! Enjoy your stay!

Rob -

I still stand steadfast in believing that it looks completely terrible and because of that we should put a different motor into your C70 and put yours into mine because I can settle for its lameness.

-Andyoh yeah i'm sure thats the real reason. anyway. welcome and that looks cool. we get less of the slanging matchs i've seen on VS. generally less concerned about looks here and more about doing ****.

PS if you want i've got the pics of the modded I5 head from sweden, i saved them while they were still up.

This of course is all lies because we can't see the internals of the engine, so its is all LIES :cough: evolve anti believers :cough:.

who did all the work with the custom manifolds and such?

Hi rob ,

Are you the owner of volvomotorsports ? , if you are then youll know who im building some 5 cyl engines for , be nice to have some more in depth specs of turbo and head etc ?

Thats a later engine with coil on plug ? shame otherwise megasquirt would work - or really you should use MBE , the latest one , which should support a 5 cyl , and has 20 maps alone for the boost side , oh and its relatively cheap

megasquirt and spark would work actaully, jsut a matter of making a hallsensor mount on the cam wheel, and the use of a distro. but if you're spending money, you would probly want a more expensive EMS, as they have more bling :-P

No Kevin unlike Evolve we've all been following Rob's progress for the last year or so. Terry (owner of VMS) and I are working together on my new project as well.

So go back to drooling over evolves hype and crying over your blown na motor.

VMS is hopefully bringing alot of neat stuff to the market over the next year... alot of it rwd applicable (cause Im beating terry over the head about it lol).

Looks good Rob... though thanksgiving isn't a whole lot of time to get that motor broken in ;-)

The VMS cover wouldn't fit ... I can't remeber why but I believe it was a clearance issue with his wastegate the way this header is set up. I asked too ;-) my next projects gets me a red one hehehehe

Rob@VolvoMotorSports
11-20-2004, 12:03 PM
Break in- you mean the 1st hour or 2? Car will have 200 miles on it the first day back, gota drive back to nashville from Evansville so that will be a nice highway break in and then comes the cluch around town, car should be ready to dyno by the weekend i would say.

The covers on the 99> cars are different and plug cover is longer than mine, im sure we could make it work but thats not a issue really.

Looks awesome!! After seeing all that extra goop sqeezing out the valvecover i hope that too much wasnt used and is clogging any off the oil passages.

Rob@VolvoMotorSports

Nah its fine, you dont wana slack on it because of oil leaks.
