So we were putting deathwagon's new to4e-46/ht18 on the wagon tonight and decided to strike a pose for you guys. I've got at least 4 turbos in the picture, kudos to anyone that can find em (hint: ones a 60 trim, and the other is a t04e-40, but you're gonna have a hard time finding that....

Oh sure, if you count every tire on every car in and around the warehouse. All of mine have been, or will go on my car...

the ones at the warehouse have been or will be or are being used on cars too, but if i went your route, there's enough around back to 1 up you there, without even digging into the storage room where all the good tires are :-D

Hell I would be proud of a 16 in the current state of my turbo 242.

I'll take up the 'Plowery Challenge'. Ie: To run a 16 NA. Next year - probably around Easter!

I had to go check the E vs. W thread to check Kenny's time...16.8@78mph...slower on both time and speed than my lowly 244 (16.7@79). Pretty sad for the connoisseur of turbos that he seems to be. :-P

foggyjames

So 16.7 is the time to beat in the Plowery challenge, right?

A guy up in Scotland ran a slightly dubious 17.2 at Crail (times there seem a little too low to be true....say by 0.3s) in a stock 360 GLT (B200, 530 head, A cam, LE-Jet electronic injection).

By the time of the challenge, I'll be looking at a B200, 530, V or K cam (yet to decide), and the twin carbs. I think your time is in danger Mike. Benchracing?! Me?! ;) Let spring roll...

cheers

James

Hah, I've got you all beat on the wheel game. At least I did for a brief moment.
70+ Polaris Wheels. All sitting in my basement.
Dare anybody to top that!

So 16.7 is the time to beat in the [Towery] challenge, right?
To beat me, you must go faster than 16.728. Rob (volvorules) did a 15.7 in his n/a 2.3L 242, but on a built motor running weber 45's, header, etc. My b230f has 200k miles, has never had the head off, and just has a VX cam and exhaust for power mods. We're not even close to being on the same level, engine-wise, which explains the large difference in time. I did a 17.2 and 16.9 on the same day, so I have two passes in the 16's. I broke a motor mount on the first run and didn't know it until the dreaded wheel hop on the next run. I had to strap the engine with a ratchet strap, Isaac style (hey Isaac, you're getting credit for this even though you weren't the first to do it...). After that I did one more run for the 16.9 and called it a day; the rear wheels were still hopping on the launch.

I hope to run once more next spring, but with 225/50/15 instead of 205/50/15. I was hitting the rev limiter in 3rd as I hit the finish line, so I need just slightly taller gearing for it to be perfect. I would not be surprised at 16.4-16.5 with a perfect launch. After that I won't be back to the strip until I can drop 1-2sec. ;-)
