so makes me want a 850. i love that 5cyl sound, even a 2.5 20V would do, more noise

that isn't a straight pipe, it's a curve pipe. :-P

yeah straight pipes go straight back...as far as I know they can still curve up and down to go around the axle....but they tend not to go side to side....still must be a kick ass sound....we plan on getting one for our R

It's actually not loud at all. it is 2.25" pipe from the turbo back...so the turbo/pipe diameter/presence of bends effect keeps it within a reasonable volume. Sound absolutely awesome however...

Damn, that sounds nice. It makes me want to get an 850R again. wow, those are awesome vehicles. But then I remember it FWD, to keep my feelings neutral. :-P

If there's a pic of the cat, I can't see it, but how's the sound level? Drony or any other problems? I'm curious to compare my sound to yours (2-muffler & race-cat 3" on my 855R), I pass through SB & LA all the time.

the R runs a little more boost...and even then its only for a few seconds. It goes back down after 7 seconds I think? Its pretty much like the turbo+. Otherwise, its the exact same motor

To bad you dont have a manual and a 9lb flywheel... if you did

it would be truely jizztastic.

But right now I rank it as a Nikki level of hotness!

Yeah stock piping and no mufflers or cats is a pretty cool setup. That's what Joseph had on his car when he ran the 13.8's too :)

Right now I've got some manner of 2.5" exhaust with a magnaflow muffler. And exhaust leaks... The muffler makes it so much less cool sounding than that does :(

I'm going to weld on some 3-bolt flanges to allow me to run open downpipe when I want to tomorrow I think. THAT is a cool sound :) But somewhat less tolerable...

It's a shame that no matter how good an in-line 4 is they can never sound as good as an engine with more cylinders.

There I must disagree, ITBs can make a world of difference:

Man I lover that sound http://www.threefattigers.com/Protocore/FunStuff/MeW00t.gif

I can't recall hearing any 5 or 10 cylinder that I liked the sound of.

thank you for reconfirming why I love s2k's so much. Damnit if the new project car didn't need me to have a car with some trunk space I'd be picking mine up soon.

That does'nt sound too bad- I listened to it at work and due to lousy speakers it kinda sounded like crap, but that I went home and on these speakers it sounds much better. Too bad removing the mufflers on the V70R would affect it's appearance [they're right at the tailpipe practically] or I'd considor removing them a temporary solution until Mike [lostartof] and I do a full 3'' system on it. 5-Cylinders rock.

About individual throttle bodies-A naturally aspirated 850 with ITB's [with lots of other engine mods]. With a 5-Cylinder that'd sound amazing

There I must disagree, ITBs can make a world of difference:

Well, since I'm gonna be running throttle bodies (ok, carbs not FI, but same difference) early next year, we'll see how a NA redblock sounds on them! An exhaust will help a lot, obviously.

cheers
