Well at least it says UCLA, but you can bet'cha $1000 he bought it in Norway. Most of fashion-stores carry some sort of American college/university branded sweaters.

Second, that picture with the kids pointing at the burnout is funny.

Heisann!

I like your exhaust-manifold, how much did it cost? (I read you bought it from KRB Trading). And will the turbo be in the same height as with a stock manifold, so that the downpipe can be reused?

www.sundinracing.com
12-07-2004, 01:03 AM
Thanx for the nice words guys, It seems like you all like my exhaust manifold.. This is custom made by KRB Trading in Steinberg Norway (www.krbtrading.no)

My engine has stock conrods and crankshaft, though the rods and pistons have been weight-balanced by me.. The rods had about 25grams of weight difference and the aftermarket pistons had about 15 grams.. Now the rods and pistons are all inside 0.1gram of difference!!! ****ty job

engine spec translation:

B21 ET engine block, 2mm oversized, Moroso blockfiller (B21FT over there)
Stock Crankshaft
Stock Conrods (the so called M rods)
Mahle 94mm forged pistons
uprated oilpump (higher preassure)
Ported 531 8V head, 2mm bigger ex valves, custom made camshaft
740 turbo intake with stock fuelrail, fpr, throttlebody and siemens 720ml injectors
Custom made ex. header
Turbonetics T3/T04E-50 Stage 5 Turbo
Turbonetics Evolution Wastegate (some problems with springs..)
Autronic SMC engine management system with directfire, antilag, logging++++
Bosch/Porsche Fuelpump

The reason my car did`nt work properly on the video is that the springs in the EVO wastegate are not hard enough.. the backpreassure opens the valve and lets the exhaust go bypass

The thing to do then is to put boost preassure on both sides of the W.gate, and adjust the preassure over the diaphragm with a boost preassure regulator..

BTW the engine gave 400bhp @ 1.7bar The car looses grip in 3rd gear at 120Km/h on 18 inch 215s :volvo: this was on 1.8bar though

im very impressed. the simplicity is mind boggling too. its so clean, yet it deffinelty gets the job done. perhaps my next big project after the tranny is going to be simplifing the car. hell, who knows, maybe it will make the car faster...

Sundin Racing 2.MPG (http://www.r-a-c-e-r-s.net/Videoer/Sundin%20Racing%202.MPG)

Is this your old engine? what mods had you done to that engine 205 whp is still pretty good.

My engine block has (almost) the same setup as yours, (I bought it from Torgeir Wetterhus)but I need more fuel. The B230ET injection isn't enough. I'm starting on the engine as soon as I get the car finished. I'm aiming at 300 hp.

anyone care to comment on how the serpentine belt was done?

www.sundinracing.com
12-07-2004, 11:10 AM
I`m running a Getrag 265 5speed from a bmw M535 using a 2plated tilton sonic

My friend with the 611bhp car are running a Getrag 262CR (close ratio) from a BMW M3 (E30)
He`s using a 3plated ap racing clutch

volvorsport
12-07-2004, 11:22 AM
and youve had no problems ,nor your friend with these gearboxes ?

the serpentine belt is quite easy , it s just an alternator pulley welded on to those other pulleys . remember this is a 2.9 engine!!

HUAH! there may be a limit, but apparently they are just as strong as i suspected. you also have to factor in the age of the tranny too, it could have been preety old. that said... i may have just changed my mind on my tranny approach.

Beautiful car. Seems like it is tuned well fromt the video. Nice work!

Did you order your pistons straight from Mahle? If not, where did you buy them? Also, if you don't mind my asking, how much were they for a set? I am trying to see if I can afford forged pistons on my future motor build. Thanks.

I want to see more pictures of your wagon's roll cage!!!!!!

The rods had about 25grams of weight difference and the aftermarket pistons had about 15 grams.. Now the rods and pistons are all inside 0.1gram of difference!!! ****ty job  I just balanced a set of M-rods and B21f pistons. The worst rod was I think 6 grams out and the worst piston was 4 grams, we got it all balanced to less than .5 gram. The crank was a bit off balance but not bad, we got that within .12 tolerance. Yours were REALLY out of balance! :omg:

Thanks for sharing your pics! I found your pictures of that manifold a long time ago, been drooling over it for over a year.

I`m sorry to tell you that i dont have any pics of the rollcage, When we made it and welded it into the car i took about 30 pics.. Late in summer Aug/sep 04 my fooking computer crashed and i lost about 400pics of my car  There were 80 gig of pics, and car videos...

But dont worry, there will come pics when i get my new Canon EOS 300 D :-D

BTW the cage is in 45mm piping, fully fia standard, totally bolted.. So i can just bolt it outa the car.. It`s also "powder painted" in silver to match the silver details under the bonnet and inside the car..

The Aspirator
12-10-2004, 12:07 PM
That's just awesome, you can unbolt your rollcage! I'm building up a wagon right now, and a roll cage would be really sweet, though it's totally going to be a street driven daily driver so I can't permanently get rid of the back seat. But a removable roll cage would ROCK.

So you were able to weld the cage out of the car? When I see/hear most people doing cages in 242/244's they have a lot of trouble welding the upper corners, so some people just chop the roof off then weld it back on afterwards. But with a wagon you can just slide it backwards and out the back!! Awesome. Do you have any pictures of wagons with roll cages?
