I saw it a few weeks ago on a magazine, there was a big advertisement of it. It looks very good.. Much nice parts. And for something like 1000-1500 euro it isn't too overpriced I think, although it is a lot of money.

DO NOT EVER BUY FROM THOSE GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone I have ever known who has bought from them, including me, has gotten ripped off. I saw that add a couple of years ago before I bagged my 240. What they want you to do is to send in your struts and they will make then air struts. But chances are you will never see them agian.

I was the first person to aproach them to do a 240 and they wanted to charge me $500 more than the add prive because they hadent done one before.

I cannot stress it enough how important it is to not buy from them.

If you really want to bag your 240 let me know and I will tell you what and where to get your parts. I personally have bagged several cars including my 240, my 122 , a 49 ford and a 01 chevy truck. And I have seen/helped with the istalllation on other cars.

Hey do you know if it's possible to bag a 740?

No.

U.N.C.L.E., I have no problem at all with your post.
Performance means go fast to most people, so that is my take on that forum.
Airbags are for looks.

Besides, just because some posts don't get moved doesn't mean that is the new rule, etched in stone. I guess we should have left all those insurance ads everywhere, since there is no written rule on insurance spammers.

I think this was in reference to the original poster, with regard to bagging his car, rather than chastizing you for moving the thread. At least, that's how I'd take it.

Heh, before Blown stepped in, I was going to point out that the ad mentions nothing about bags being included. It only says "KIT-I Is a "FAST" kit with 1/4HP small compressor, 1 gallon tank, 4 3-Position 150PSI Valves, 3/8" airline, 2 dual guages, 150PSI pressure switch & 3/8" plastic fittings", even though it shows the bags. Spidey senses started tingling...

Mike (not Perry), you really SHOULD develop something that would work as a bolt-on for a Volvo, since you've done it before. Done right, it can give you whatever spring rate and load height you're looking for, so there's no reason one can't handle well.

The problem with having a bolt in kit is that it would need to have replacement front struts. To get the car ot go low enough the strut tube needs to be shortened several inches. This requires a shorter shock. Or you can modify a stock strut tube by moving the spindle up the tube. Either of these makes it cost prohibitive to make them to sell. I doubt that I would sell enough sets to make it worth it.

Plus if you want the rear to get as low as my car did you need to cut out/ beat the crap out of the rear inner fenders.

Hey do you know if it's possible to bag a 740?Ya its totally possible to bag a 740, its just like baggin a 240. The easiest Volvos to bag are the olter ones that dont use struts.

What about those who don't want to drag their frame, but would like adjustable ride height and all that junk? You wouldn't have to do too many mods to the strut or the sheetmetal just to drop the suspension right to the bump stops, would you?

And what I was thinking was basically a version of what you did for your 240 front bags. A lower mount that welded onto the strut tube, an upper mount with a couple of o-rings to seal it to the shock rod, and a bag that you'd seal to the mounts with adhesive once the lower mount was welded and the shock was installed. Obviously you'd have to seal the shock to the inside of the tube... The technology wouldn't have to be strictly Volvo-specific, but rather a way of converting ANY strut front suspension to air bag springs, and you could use your choice of shock absorber. Can you buy just a bag from Goodyear, or do they only sell ones sealed to caps?

The easiest way to bag the front of a 240 or 740 would be to get a bag from here:

http://www.universalairsuspension.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=25&products_id=29

then all you would have to do is make a perch. But I really dont know much about the reliability of those bags. I am afraid that after a while the inner sleve would wear and you would get leaks.

the lowest you can get it is about 2-3 inches lower than stock, and that would be with no air in the bags. You would be able to go full off road style though.

Crap. I forgot about the bearing.

Yeah, I was thinking about that tube style bag too, but was also worried about wearing the inner sleeve on the shaft.

Are you serious about bagging your 240? If you want to start where I left off I have all the parts that I took off my car.
