I've been looking at cheap IC options for my 'race' car, and you guys seem to be having good results with them. But, who has actual power numbers or 1/4mi times (with weight!) for these units? They seem beefy, but I need some real world experience with them before I plunk down the $$ on one just to have it not work at all! Thanks in advance.

Use the "Search" feature on this website and you will find that we have beaten the Intercooler discussion to death.
The NPR intercooler is said to be close to a drop in.
The Powerstroke intercooler will take some colorful enhancement of the car or the intercooler to fit.
Either way you will like the results. Do it.

I know the search, I just never found any dyno or 1/4mi times to back up how well they seem to work. I need *proof* unfortunately!
I'm a pain in the ass, but the application isn't Volvo either, and I don't dare go on the Turbo Ford board asking them how well they work.. I love Fords
Anyway, temprature/pressure drop at certain boost levels would be nice to know as well.

man.. john busted out the usual towery-ism...
anyway a buddy of mine has a co-worker with a dodge daytona turbo. he stuffed a powerstroke in his ride and says theres minimal if any pressure drop & seems to love it (not really sure where the hell he put it in the car tho...)
i'll have proof eventually, but thats a bit of a ways off...

I have one waiting to go in my car.
I got mine for well under $200 shipped from Ebay.
No numbers yet, either 1/4 mile or dyno.
It's also nice to know that I don't have plastic endtanks that are going to crack apart on me.
Peace of mind is a wonderful thing.

Good luck finding anyone who has done before/after with the intercooler being the ONLY variable. Most of us turn the boost up and do all kinds of other things along with an intercooler replacement.
Search the site................We have been through this enough times.

i love my NPR and it was a huge improvement over stock. in terms of throttle response, heat soak, and top end power. i got mine for $150 and it was a drop in on my car due to the radiator and oil cooler being separate or something. i recomend it. i had to turn down the boost a hair too after i put it in because it was so much more efficient than stock. i would say look for a NPR. its awsome. maybe the powerstroke is a hair better... i have no idea. but i cant see it being worth the extra agrivation... well maybe for you it is.

Rob (Volvorules) made 199hp/210lb-ft on a Mustang dyno with a B230ft, 15g, Megasquirt, MSD, and PSIC. This was at 14lbs boost. Broke one m46.
He also ran a 14.4@98 with a "hiccup" on the second gear shift. The car pulls strong, and with a better tranny + more psi should be able to hit 13s.
Judging by the Megasquirt readouts, the intake air temp is pretty low. I forget real #'s. I'd say the PSIC is worth it.

1/4 mile time won't tell you much, like if the IC is good or not.
Knowing the 1/4 mile time of a car/engine that you're not using seems rather pointless to determine the usefulness of an IC.
Anyway, temprature/pressure drop at certain boost levels would be nice to know as well.
Better things to look for...
And John has good reason to say search, he's talked a lot about boost response with the IC compared to the old Saab unit.
