So I have gotten a lot of work done since my last post and decided to put up some pictures. These are about three weeks old and I have made some more progress since then.

The motor is a LT1 out of a 93 pontiac trans-am. Transmission is a 4l60 4 speed auto with overdrive.

As of now I have found a set of Block Hugger Headers that fit great.

I have decided to do a 15 Gallon RCI Aluminum fuel cell in the trunk and I am running all new braided stainless lines and AN fittings. A buddy of mine tig welded -8 intake and -6 return lines onto the fuel rails and I have an aeromotive fuel pump and an aeromotive filter I am going to run.

I also have the radiator mocked up and it fits fine.

Paint looks decent in person, and I have a lot of cleaning up to do under the hood. I have figured out most of the wiring and am just waiting on parts.

So enough talk here are the pics:

Looks good, is there room for a supercharger ;)

My dad's dream, more-less, is to put a V8 into my 240. Guess we'll work on getting the turbo done right first :P

Keep us updated with lots pif pics and stuff....

A vortech or powerdyne would fit nicely on the drivers side, nothing else goes over there. But nitrous is going on before anything else.

Nice job man...but I have to ask, why nitrous?

Bigbegum69
01-26-2005, 08:20 PM
The real question is why not nitrous?? hehe

But to tell you the truth I am shooting to hit 12 second passes with this thing after I am done with the suspension, chassis, and wheel setup. Nitrous is just the eastiest and cheapest way to get there considering I am running a stock motor. N/X sells a kit specifically for the LT1 and I have a great hookup on it, with a possible part "sponsorship"
I am shooting for 13's without it.

but only time will tell.. I will keep you guys updated.

Looking great Ryan! Keep it up! I just couldn't help but notice, that in this picture, the Corona wheels on the back look a little tiny and "inset"... You see those wheels over there on the red Camaro? They look like they'd fit better... Lol. What are you planning on running for wheels and tires on this beast?

The coronas will be used for burnout pictures then disregarded, Unfortunately I don’t have a locker of any type so they will be burned one at a time for now.

As of now I have a set of Virgos that I will run with Mickey Thompson 235/60/15's in the rear and some sort of 225/60/15's up front so the overall diameter looks about the same.

I also have a set of S80 17's that I might run but I haven’t really looked into tire sizes.

I'll go ahead and tell you my plans for the suspension. I am going to do a set of coilovers front and rear along with poly bushings, sway bars and adjustable end links, strut braces, custom sub frame connectors, and all the adjustable tubular rear suspension pieces. I would like to attempt some tubular lower control arms in the front if it seems at all possible.

Once my rear end blows to hell I am going to get a 12 bolt rear end built with a locker and do something a little more extreme, possibly a mini tub or some wider fenders. I would do 18x8 wheels in the front (to clear some S60R brakes) and 18x10 or even wider rear wheels most likely using a more common bolt pattern and offset allowing bigger brakes and more wheel choices.

Thanks for reading my crazy ideas, if you have any for me let me know
Ryan

Where are you located? Sounds like some good plans to me! I may be interested in those Corona's when they're stripped of tires... If you're in the PNW and for cheap... Lol, peace!

looks good, i was checking forums about my 94 z28, and everyone runs nos. i'm sure it's because of space problems, but the lt1's seem to take to the bottle pretty well. and there's enough torque at idle to make you a happy man

i'm curious about location too. keep us posted

I am around Dallas Texas. Just north in a city called Plano.

On the wheels I may just keep them for sentimental value.

I will post up some new pictures next week. Thanks Guys

ever thought about other mods? i just got this months GM High Tech Performance, and it so happens that they list some of the best mods for the LT1 in it! anyway,

"for the ecu, try PCMSFORLESS or Fastchip, also, instead of replacing the stock vented or unvented OptiSpark with a stock replacement when it goes bad (cuz they do!) try swapping in Dynotech Engineering's Dynaspark (listed as a more reliable stock location upgrade), also, you should get your headers ceramic coated to keep underhood temps down and to keep the paint on your fenders from melting. also, a cold air intake kit makes nice gains, and top that off with a nice 52mm or bigger throttlebody, BBK makes nice ones. for cam options, if you wanna go that route, try between 218*-230* intake duration, between 224*-236* ex. duration, .495-.520" lift and 112* lobe separation angle. top the whole thing off with your nos kit, and at least a 3" exhuast, and youll have that baby running 12s in no time!

also, if you need a pretty cheap locker that has great results, try a EZ Locker, you can get one at www.randysringandpinion.com , PN EZ 812A012

Oh ya stock sucks you gotta mod it. I have ceramic coated headers, I am making a custom cold air intake, and my PCM was updated by PCMFORLESS to remove all the security keys, do a performance upgrade, and get rid of all the emissions equipment. For exhaust I am doing dual 2.5 all the way back with some sort of muffler. I am aware that the optispark is not a very good system and I will definatly look into Dynotech Engineering's Dynaspark. The throttle body is also on my to do list.

How much do the EZ lockers run for?

I am going to post up so new pictures today

The filter that I have on there is not for good, and those headers are not ceramic coated yet. The Radiator is set up just not in the pictures.

All you need is a set of the later black bumpers.

Lookin good so far.
This will be the 2nd V8 bertone I've ever seen.

i think you could get the EZ Locker bought and installed for around $400, call in to a 4wd shop and ask them what they charge to do a jeep front axle LSD, should be similar enough in labor charges.
