We now have 45 cars signed up for track day now. We will cut off at 50. If you want to go, send in
the dough.
Contact Keith Soreng at ksoreng@neteze.com or see the contact info
below.
Would it
help you make up your mind about coming if you knew that celebrities were going to show up? I bet so.
It
looks like Richard Gordon and Scott Hart from IPD (www.ipdusa.com ) will be at both the Davis Show and the
track, as will Peter and Paul from MVP www.mvpvolvo.com in Portland, Bill Webb and Art Banks, famous 1800 guys,
Bill Webb is the author of the definitive book on the 1800 - Swedish Iron, The guys from SVS in Sacramento will
be there with their Volvo Wagon drag car and 242 convertible, the flying Svenson brothers from Oakland will be at
the track with their latest R sport creation, George Achorn of Swedespeed (www.swedespeed.com) is traveling from
the east coast to join us, along with a host of other famous and near famous Volvo folks. This event always
produces surprises, great cars, super people and even a good hot dog stand.
You do not need to
register for Davis. Just show up and have fun. $5 at the door. $10 if you are selling parts.
If you are
a horsepower person, you need to get yourself to the dyno day at SVS on Saturday, too. Information
below.

DYNO DAY AT SVS VOLVO SERVICE IN SACRAMENTO - Saturday April 26th
SVS has
installed a dynomometer in their shop and is opening up an
opportunity for all Volvo owners to get some
inexpensive time on the
dynomometer. If you are interested in putting your car on the dyno contact Doug Kauer
at dkauer744@hotmail.com for times, cost and details.
DAVIS SWAP MEET AND CAR SHOW - Sunday April
27th
This event will be the largest Volvo gathering in California this year.
Last year there were over
150 cars and I expect 200 this year easily. The event will attract Volvo owners from all over the west coast.
The cost is $5 per car, $10 if you are selling parts. This pays for the rental of the park, street closure etc.
and adds a little money to the chapter treasury. The event takes place at Davis Central Park Pavilion, located at
3rd and C streets. It is right near downtown so that you can walk to restaurants, shops etc. It is a great,
shady place with a playground for kids, etc. This has been our very best event for four years now. The park got
too crowded last year, so we will close the street to add more parking. Don't miss this one. You don't need
to be a club member to participate, but you can join while you are there if you wish.
We do awards for the
best cars in the following
categories,
PV-544
1800
120-140-160
200-700-900
40-60-70-80-850
This year we will do 1st,
2nd and 3rd place awards. All awards determined by people's choice ballots. In addition there will be prizes,
gift certificates, raffles, etc.
We will need a large number of Volunteers to handle this event. We will
need help setting up, running the people's choice balloting, working the information and sales booth, selling
raffle tickets, and parking cars. If you are going to be at Davis the night before, or arriving very early that
morning we could definitely use your help. Email me at lcordner@pacbell if you would be willing to help
out.
If you are coming from out of town, here is a list of Motels near the park.
