I'm sorry, we all used our real names in the late nineties. That's why nothing chimes. The only familiar things I've seen is Angel, Bertram, Hyde, Shuh, Pilone, Mcbroom and Phil Bradley, etc.. Thanks

now I think of it, I've been on tbricks, mostly just reading, since uhh... I think it was December of 1999... yeah, the month after I got my car, I started checking out all the sites about volvos (first to figure out why my car wouldnt start... the net didnt help at all cuz I didnt know how to use it... it just turned out to be a clogged cat... still rebuilt it though! Just wish to hell and back that I knew 1/100th of the stuff I know now about volvos when I rebuilt my car...
i've been active (read: very active) for almost a year and a half i think.
I'm a noobie compared to you Robin! Geesh! 1997! That's before I was in high school! You're younger than I and I was 14 in 1997!

"twin turbo volvo" , absolute benchracing wizadry of the highest calibre !
i still think those twin turbo packs can be made to work off an RX7 . still wouldnt make much of a performance advantage though .

This month marks the five year anniversary of the message board. I started it in May 1998. I got 22 hits that month. I haven't checked in a while, but the board gets hundreds of thousands of hits per month these days. I was around for a year or so before that.

I just signed up for this BB today. Been a TBricks member since Angel founded the club and started the listserv. I think that was late 1996 or 1997. Nice to see some familiar names and glad the group is still healhty.

nah that was Kris Weldy <sp?> down in texas... he got flamed off the mailing list a few years ago, too bad he didnt join the messageboard
bitjockey
07-07-2003, 10:05 AM
Yeah, Kris was a cool guy, but talked out his ass and couldn't understand why nobody else could have a 300hp b230. He was all for a huge turbo, nitrous and EMS. Nobody listened to him... heh.
Funny how things work out. Now the fastest Volvo on this board is using a big(er) turbo, nitrous, and EMS.
He did have a quick Supra...
zombiewoof

Just for the record, Kris had his flame thrower turned up to 11 at all times, on and off the list. The hapless admins regularly had their mail boxes stuffed full of complaints from regular contributors. Lee Levitt only dealt with it for 1 month. T-bricks was far less fortunate.
Kris blew up at least 3 motors and got in at least one major traffic accident while street-racing during his relatively short time on the list. A true innovator! Alas, he was deified while those that quickly tired of his rantings were vilified by many (though the lines of demarcation seem dependant on age).
BTW, big turbo, EMS, and nitrous was somehow unique to Kris? I don't think so. Seomeone has a list of what all the old-timer T-bricksters ran for 1/4 mile times and there were quite a few running impressive times using "unorthodox" means. Most people now know that trying to get 23psi out of a stock Gerrett isn't a great idea, it wasn't always this way -- extrapolating 300hp from this application is probably a little on the high side, EMS or no EMS, yes?

…and Yeah back in 98, I remember looking at the board and seeing angel angel angel... and that guy from texas... 0r something with like 30 psi on a almost stock motor. :???:

Yeah, I remember the old board. I like to think of myself as one of the "originals." Just been gone a while, and just catching back up. I still like using actual names. What's up with handles? (OK, one to talk: being a trucker, my CB handle is "Turbo")
BTW: for those that may remember, I was the one that was working with Mike Aaro and his 531/4C head on top a B23ET with a T3/T4B-V (ceramic BB). Turns out the turbo is too big...

khoward@telocity on the mailing list, kenny i think ( no not bondo)
most remember me from my infamous tangle with Mike A. (he was wrong. period.) that turned into a veritable ****storm for a few days..
I'll be quite honest, not a whole lot of cutting edge stuff was discussed on the mailing list as anyone with any kind of radical idea was quickly told to stuff it and do the "normal" mods (turbo a non turbo motor? are you out of your mind? you need a compression ratio close to 7.5:1 for things to be remotely streetable  )

I don't remember when iu joined, maybe 98 or something. I remember i just had my license and my old 85 744T. Then things went wrong, and i of course acted like a 16 year old who had expensive repairs, real PO'd on the list :) Some things changed :)
I remember Milo, Shane, PB, Kris, Dino "I got my boost gauge to go around 4 times" Pinch, Trent J, Danny in the UK[...@pixelfusion.com iirc, Mike 760T of course accross the pond i believe, Dave Barton, and the guy Bradcked up the Unitek Items from, I think it was Mark? McBroom and the 375HP project or some such, Paul Schuh[with one "different" trans if i remember ;)], Emery, 240B230FT swap Tim in AZ, stu of course, garfield jackson with the supra swap, I think Greg who was an engineer, few others ....who else.
It was a better list then than it is now. But then again big topics were electric fan conversions :)
Things have come a long way in a short time if you think about it in many ways. I think I will forever be trying to sell my car while I keep adding to it :D
I still remember the old website and the TPC, which was the best gallery on the earth.
Real nuts if you ask me.

Yes, I was John Sargent on the turbobricks mailing list. It was very interesting when I started posting here as 745T+. I had no credibility with many users of this site. It was funny! Most regular users have figured out who 745T+ is.

I dont remember when I joined the mailing list. I started driving my parents 84.5 245Ti when I turned 16. Which puts me joining the list about 98 or so. Dang time flies. I didnt post much on the list as I was more interested in reading and didnt have much to contribute being the newbie that I was.
take care
Happy Thanksgiving!
