So, I figure I should post up some pics of my intake mani so ya'all can tell me what im doing wrong. I havent gotten terrible far on it, but I did make some velocity stacks which were quite a pain in the ass but i think they turned out allright. I'm just waiting until I feel like tearing my car apart for a few weeks so i can get it all fitted on the car, move the alternator, etc.

your stack tops dont look quite right - they are not paed to coreectly smooth the airflow coming into the runners. They are too flat. Your on the way to a good intake though!! good work!

Awesome. always look forward to new things like this.

Maybe get a little more depth to them? Not sure how much you are spending for material, but it might be easier to find some prefabbed and then go to town on the actual intake assembly? Maybe make some on a lathe [i've always wanted to and might when i get a chance].

Great work!

The guy on another forum made this apparently :

Going for the fire-extingusher style? :)

Nice! That looks pro. If I had the money to make a die to press over (I'm assuming you made it on a lathe?) or just to lathe out some aluminum stock, I would, but I'm trying this as a budget intake manifold. I'm not trying to be difficult, I'm just saying I made those stacks out of a couple pieces of .063 flat sheet, a wooden hammer, and a 1.5" weld el. :) I'm not sure if it will work or not, but it wont break my heart if it doesn't. You know what I mean? It definitely wont be the end-all and be-all of intake manifolds but my hope is that it will at least breathe better up in the higher rpms. Thanks for the comments guys. Now, the real question is... Should the stacks be mounted flush with the "floor" of the intake manifold or should they be spaced up like i always see them. Adrian brought up a very good point in that it seems likely that manufacturers use the "spaced" method to elongate the runner without sacraficing any packaging space in the engine bay. I'm going for 4K to 7K powerband. Any thoughts? Later,

Ben

You hacked up a stock manifold for that flange didn't you. That's awesome, keep up the sweet work. I'm dying to know if an intake like this makes a noticable difference, I'd assume it does, but I wanna hear it from you!
