Ok, so I have finaly picked a date. I would like to do a meet on June 10th so we can go to the track at englishtowns raceway park. I live in New Brunswick 08901 so we could meet here through out the day. People can stay here (I do live at the hockey house so it's not amazingly clean) Bring a sleeping bag or whatever you wish. Depending on what the crew thinks maybe we can throw back a few brews. The next day Saterday the 11th will be a work day. I wish I had all my tools here, but I don't so if you have em please bring them too. I do have a fair sized driveway so that should be pretty fun for working on cars. Please tell me if you are intrested in attending.
This is how the night is advertised at raceway park( Street Night – Muffled Time Trials + $20 Gamblers. Mean Street. Open 5PM. Street muffled vehicles only. )

Just to add to this, you don't have to gamble if you dont want to. I know how most volvo's are slow so I dont want that to hold you back

I'll be there!!!!

Rich, I'd like to see both you and your brother out here. And before that I need help putting my turbo back on, so it doesn't fall off this time. My poor turbo is just sitting on the table in my living room.... help

Just wanted to ask if anyone has installed a Powertrax locker in a 1031 rear that will be coming to the work day? Because I will need a lot of assistance, i never really dealt that much with gearing and would like to learn.
And does anyone have a welder?

Thanks,
Mark

I have never messed with the rear ends before. Did you get a new locker already? It would realy be a nice mod for this stupid open diff cars. I hope someone here has messed with this before so we can throw one in Marks car.

 Im still debating on whether I should get the powertrax locker or Tru Trac locker. I want to get 50/50 power ratio for the drag radials I put on the car. I would like to know if anyone has experience first before I purchase one or the other. But I already have 740ti, red s60r full body kit, v70r, x2 940ti coming wit me to this meet so it should be a great bash.

stylngle2003
05-02-2005, 07:20 PM
both will help greatly off the line, truetracs dont seem to like to withstand repeated high HP high speed drifting, but they make the cars handle better on things like autocrosses, where as the locker causes understeer at the limit, but allows you to get more stupid with the loud pedal

oh, and ILL BE THERE GUYS!!!!!

Get the locker if you want to drag race. The truetrac isn't that good.

I am looking forward to this event. I am wondering how well work day will go over. There is a possibility of work day turning into hang out eat food and maybe some drinks day. It has been sugested that we meet up and see who everyone is then go to a work day from there. Let me know what you guys think.

www.racewaypark.com <-- Englishtown, NJ Racetrack. I have a whole bunch of buddies coming down just because they want to see a volvo group. I'm dying to meet some volvo guys too.

As far as lockers go, I heard powertrax locker is the best with 50/50 power distribution ratio to both tires, but am I going to need an install kit to add shims and stuff?
For the install of the powertrax, am I going to have to take out my open differential and swap over gears and stuff? Just so I know....
Eamon I'm up for anything food, beer, women...it's all good, haha.

I'm a friend of Scotts from work, I'm going to get a bunch of my VW friends to come out as we've been meaning to hit the track for awhile.

I'm very interested in seeing some of the work you guys have done on your Volvo's. I don't know anything about them, and it's always cool to learn something new.

Scott speaks very highly of you guys, looking forward to meeting you and your cars at the track!

Last time I went it was Pete, myself, and IIRC, a mechanic named Jim at Englishtown. This was my first ever run at a drag race track and it was an interesting experience. Be aware that besides the entry fee, you'll have to bring your own or have to rent a helmet. You will also need a number for your car so they get a few dollars extra from you if you need to buy a number also. I know alot of you guys already know this stuff but I was a newbie at
that time and no one let me know of these extras.

They sell fuel there and at that time there was about 4 different varieties. It was really
cool pulling upto a pump and putting 100 octane in the car.

Looking forward to meeting you guys there.

Will it count if I bring that stuff to paint on the windows?

dl242gt
05-31-2005, 06:03 PM
You mean the white shoe polish used for your car number? They will put that on for you.

Enjoy the road,

Beanie
05-31-2005, 06:06 PM
Yes, but I have some of the real stuff in different colors from my shop. Or by "number" do you mean some weird race registration.

At Englishtown last time. They told me my car had to have a number. So, I bought a number
and they gave me the white shoe polish crap to put it on with. They would probably let you
put your own on but I don't know if they want to see it in any color but white. Since that is
easy and quick to see.

Here is the deal, I have just been informed that I have to work on friday and most likely late. I am livid, however I can't loose my job over it. I finaly have a like a real job, if it was like wendys I would say go f yourself and race. I don't know what time I am going to get out. If you guys are still at the track then I will head right over there. The only car I have to run right now anyway in a 1993 245 wagon with 1inch exhaust wich takes away about 10 hp. Everyone is still welcome to hang out at my place and stay over for cookout or whatever we decide to do on saterday. I am pissed I can't be there the whole time but there isn't much I can do about it. Complaining has gotten me nowhere on this issue. So let the meet go on, I see no reason that we can't keep the schedual the way it is.
If you have any questions you can post them here. Scott and or Mark will let me know if there is anything that pops up I am sure. I have no internet at the house right now (hopefully it will be back soon)

Dont worry bout it Eamon, keep your job so you can amp up your next ride. Im going to try to take as much pics as I can.
TO EVERYONE ELSE, THE MEET WILL STILL BE SET FOR FRIDAY. There will be a lot of older & newer style Volvo's... S60rs, 850t5rs, s70t5s, and ofcourse our 740s & 240s.

Like I said earlyer I will be there as soon as I can I really want to be here. I am so annoyed by this whole thing. When I made the date I thought I would put it so far in the future that no one could mess it up. I was wrong, but I still think I will make it out there. If not I will just meet people at my house.

I dont think I'm going to be staying over Eamon, but I'm coming down wit a crew from my dealership, they love this site. I have an 89 745ti. euro headlights/ 960 taillights, tinted to the max...haha.
my crew is leaving tomorrow at about 4, so we'll probably race the whole way down there and get there by 5 b/c of traffic. so hope to meet you guys down there.

Alright everyone, I just got off the phone with E-town and we're still on for tonight. I was able to get them to set aside a staging lane for volvo's and the vw heads that might be coming down too.

When you go through tech, tell them you're with turbobricks, we should be lane 10. If there is a problem, have them talk with Paul, although there shouldn't be.

I'll be there in a bright red '01 gti.

Hope to see y'all there. :-D
