I'm just suggesting that we have another work day and seeing whos maybe intersted for an oregon, or possibly NW work day. We had one about this time last year and it was a big success and alot of fun. Let's see whos interested and maybe we can get something together, maybe make our cars look just right for the iPD meet?

Havent seen you around for a while, man :-D I think you should head over to ovtuners.org, if you havent already, and join up. Definitely ready for a work day though, I think someone was talking about something like a cleaning day before the iPD show. :)

as soon as someone comes up with a yard
I say we shoot for May 1, two weeks away and 3 weeks before g-sale. I will look into trying to find a place but dont hold your breath. if anyone can get a place that would work great.

I vote for coldfusion21's yard, he does not live that far from me so my drive would not be that bad.

mmm he and his parents moved into a house that's has a much less ideal yard for Volvo lovin' goodness.

I'd donate my yard, but my yard is even smaller.

I wonder... I wonder if we can get our friend Marc to donate HIS yard :) he's got a huuuge driveway and it's used to having broken Volvos parked all over it.

Reeferman and I were thinking of hosting more of a "show and shine" the weekend before the IPD garage sale, we have not figured out all the details yet so have not posted anything. We have been working on all the cars and NChoy's the last couple of weeks. So we will be ready for a show and shine Volvo day.

Hahaha, Andrew has a largeish yard/driveway, I don't think he's seen this post yet. But then again, he just moved in, and I don't think they'd be up for it quite yet.

yea, im still with my parents, we moved to a larger house in exchange for almost *zero* yard. so my house is more or less out for a work spot. i think i could prolly pull a non-work day meet off. Yea, i think i could talk to friend. boonies+driveway=fun

yea, once agian im down for whatever ends up happening. sucks for whoever has to drive (be it the portland guys or the albany-corvalis guys) as gas is really starting to get annoying...

I would definitely be up for a workday.. However my yard is HUGE.. but driveway is gravel :( lo... boonies is not QUITE right but I am out of town.. I am like 5 minutes from Tony's so if he hosts something I'll be there...
I could have everyone over.. got the room.. just not a good place to work... can to stuff from the top.. but getting under a car SUCKS...
Anyway... I hope to hear the progress here soon..

Yep, it's still a rental, but if there's ever an option to buy, I won't hesitate! My weekend schedule is pretty damn hectic through May. We've got a large driveway area, gravel, and a portion of the yard is usable, but I'd like to keep it more a show 'n shine like Tonya/Tony's talking about if I host. We're actually pretty well settled in, so it would be doable, time allowing. May 1st is definitely out for me. Sounds like your place is pretty similar, Sean. Where are you located?? We're actually in Tangent, about 10 minutes outside Corvallis, just east of Oakville Rd. Here's a couple pics, might help decide location.....

Hahaha, thanks Jenny! I don't know how it'd work either though...

Andrew, is that big barn thingy on the left in the second picture your's too!???! Or at least all that gravel/street area up to it? We could have a huge show and shine at your place. I LOVE your new place. I haven't even seen it yet... I'm going to try and get most/all of my needed work done (non-cosmetic) today/tomorrow and the next day before I have to work again at 4... Well, I might do a little cosmetic work on it...

No. That's were all the farm equipment is stored. I'm sure using space up to it wouldn't be a problem, though. That gravel street is our driveway. :-D It probably wouldn't ever be a problem, but it would be best to leave a small lane open to the barn area, but still tons of space to use. Those pictures don't show the other side of the yard, either :-D Or the length of the driveway, so here ya go:

So do we have a yard or place to do this? I wish my parents weren't such hardasses. Or I'd say come out to Banks. Oh I know, lets just do this late at night out at the 24 hour starbucks in Beaverton. Its where I work on cars with the NWSR crew.

OK well. I think I might have just scored us a small yard. where I'm living right now in Forest Grove. on the 30th of this month. I can have upto 9 cars show up. Its not for sure. but its a possibillity. I have wireless access! I might even set up a terminal down in the garage for people to use if they need.

but anyways I'll keep you all posted.

Sean

So my yard is pretty large we have an Acre, and large portion of it would be usable, probably 10-15 cars easy. (gravel driveway though)
My house is about 10 minutes from Downtown Corvallis and about 1 minute from Downtown albany, and about 5 minutes off I-5.
Again, there isn't a lot of room for REAL working, but minor stuff is no problem and I do have a welder and bandsaw, if it's nice out we could do some 3" DP's or something.
I could definitely do a BBQ , I have a pool table, and wireless internet available and 2 laptops to access it from...
Anyway I would have to run it by the GF but I am sure it would be fine...
Just an option to consider...
Andrew, so my house is off hwy 20 near Albany...
Anyway if this sounds good let me know and I can tell the open dates.

Sweet! A P1800 would be awesome. I am also interested in one, though I dont have the room for one :(

Work Day - Where ever works for me. I can talk to my parents about hosting at their house (my current residence), large gravel driveway, large concrete area, shop (the 2 work bays are currently taken up with another project I have to get done soon). Pretty much I am saying that option is out for this round, though hopefully in the future it will be an option.
That whole area is a helluva mess though too.

What dates are we looking at ?

What dates are we looking at ?
Yep, lets get some details ironed out.
Are we doing a show & shine, or workday? For show, sound's like either Tony's place, Sean's, or mine would work out. Between both sides of the yard, and the driveway(six would fit in the actual driveway space alone), I could fit a buttload of cars. Sounds like Sean has even more with an acre, if it's all usable. Workday space seems to be up in the air at the moment. Although all three of us could handle some light work, it sounds.
My schedule is as follows:
The 30th works, the 1st is out. 7th would work, 8th is out. 14/15th completely out. ipd weekend clear :-D And the weekend after is clear. So if I host, it's either a Saturday, or the weekend after ipd, assuming all of ipd weekend is taken up with other stuff. If I don't, PLEASE MAKE IT A SATURDAY! :-P

So no takes for my place? Its here in Forest Grove. not even a mile from Pacific University's Campus. just to repeat myself incase anybody missed it previously. I have got some room on the Grass for people to show, and maybe a drive way. there is also the street. about 9 or maybe 10 cars. tightly packed. I have Wireless DSL access and even a terminal to let people use. umm. I will gladly do cam swaps, E-fan conversions, other things... lets not do Seafoam I don't wanna piss off the nieghbours. I can't do oil changes or coolant stuff. I don't want to deal with the waste or mess. And again this is what I have planned for the 30th of April. so please give me some votes, but I'll give it up for somebody with a bigger yard!

I could do the 30th, I personally will problely be not doing too much so it is more of a get together for me and I could help some other people. makes no fdifference where it is for me so your place Kevin would be fine for me.

*suscribes to thread*

I need to finish up my E-Fan install. Need to get me a toggle switch, I can't find my old one that used to say "Ejector Seat"... :-( I drilled the lower mounting holes for it, now I need to drill two more up top, then wire the thing up and partay. Oh, then take off the old fan...

I just found out my car is running on 3.6cylinders though, so I don't think I'll make it to the 100whp I was shooting for, nor make it to a 16 second drag run... :pow:  I'll be trying out some snake oils...

Pretty Much any upcoming Sunday would be fine at my house..
Can do a BBQ and I have room in the driveway for ~8 cars and then room in the yard for another 15...
If you want to do it at my house, we could definitely do small stuff such as mentioned above.. or Downpipes, (I have 3" bends or if yah just want to buy em and we can weld em up.. takes ~30 minutes for a DP)
Anyway any given Sunday is good for me..
Kyle what is going on with your 142? why only 3.6 cylinders? got spark? compression?

Guessing you did the Leakdown test.. what are you running.. before I rebuilt my B20 I was like 11% across the board.. then down to 3% afterwards..

Anyway, the weekend before IPD's sale would be good..
Or in forest Grove would be fine too..
Anyway if yah want it at my house let me know..

Sorry for the OT guys, but yeah... First three cylinders registered NO leak whatsoever, fourth was leaking 40%. Ouch. When I dynoed it last, I had 180 180 180 165 compression. I'm going to do a compression test later today hopefully.

Should we open a poll or something? I mean Tony's place is probably better for working.. Andrews place seems nice too, I enjoy having company and if there isn't too much WORKING on cars there is always playing pool/ tournament.. or PS2..

OVT man... I can host stuff there. How come you haven't signed up over there yet? :-P You're very welcome to... Send me some pictures in an email or something, my email is eisenbak at onid orst edu

We could maybe start earlier even if people are up for it. I'll most likely end up having to leave for work because I don't want to ask for another day off, but we'll see. It'll be later in the day anyway, so I'd still be able to come out for the first bit until the afternoon sometime. Having the pool table and the PS2 are two very good things... Do you have GT4? :-D

So Kyle came by and checked out the place as we were compression testing his car. So Kyle give your honest opinion on wether it would be suitable or not..
He did mention that with the gravel road I am down (Only about 300 yards down it.) and the fact that I haven't filled any potholes since my neighbor put his house on the market might not be ideal for those with lowered cars, I would fill the potholes if we decided to have it at my place as the only reason I have let it get bad is that the neighbor put his house on the market..
Anyway Kyle give us a yea or a neigh.. I don't really care either way.. I would be happy to have it here but if another's place is more suitable no skin off my nose..

I'm not really sure quite yet of a place... I want to check out Andrew's "crib" before I make a decision. Are we just deciding between Sean's and Andrew's place? I think Sean's place might work better actually for more of a work day type thing/mess around, bbq kind of day. If we're wanting to do more of a showy style thing with bbq whatever without doing as much work Andrew's place might be a little nicer on the cars. Sean's place for a more working on the car day because he's got a welder, air compressor, goodies like that, and the Pool table and the PS2 for messin around. So I dunno, what dates are we looking at? the 30th? the weekends after IPD? I think on OVT we were trying to plan some sort of cruise after IPD. So I don't know.

Let's get a date for a show day, or a date for a more work/play oriented day...

klr142

Ok, for a workday, Seans place would be better, mainly for the greater amount of tools/materials(welder and air compressor for example). For a show and shine day, Andrew's place has LOTS of flat grass and LOTS of gravel area. Both houses have gravel driveways, both have a couple of potholes here and there... Sean said he could fill his in, and I didn't mention it to Andrew, but you could drive around the ones to Andrew's house. It should be doable(driving on the gravel) for everyone, except maybe Nick's 740... I don't know if he's up for driving on gravel with that fresh paint beautiful beast of his. Well, he could always drive out one of his other cars anyway. And then, at Sean's house he has a Pool table and GT4 can be supplied for the PS2.

So, do you guys want a mild work/play(/eat) day? Or a show/shine(I don't know if andrew's up for firing up a BBQ?) day?

Sean, you said a Sunday works best for you? And Andrew you say that Saturday works best for you? Lol. Hmm, I don't know what to say, other than I guess who's house it's at might end up determining which day we do it on. As for what day we do it on, I'm not sure. I'm thinking that it might be the weekend after the IPD meet, because that would give most people enough time to ask for the day off or whatever. If we do a show/shine, maybe we can turn that into some sort of drive as well. Like a meeting at Andrew's place, maybe some food, some showing/shining/chatting, then going for a nice drive.

After we figure out what we're going to do, I think we should make a new thread... With details in the first post, and then just people mentioning if they'll be there or not underneath it.

klr142
04-26-2005, 03:33 PM
Ha, nice timing Sean, posting while I was posting... :-P

I forgot to mention, Andrew's house is easy to find, being as it's one turn off of hwy 34 which is one turn off of I5... Farther south than Sean's place, but less complicated to get to. But I guess it doesn't matter how complicated it is to get to, we just want to have some fun! w00. So yeah, I don't know. Sean's place is good enough for a show/shine as well, and he has the games on the side, and has offered to BBQ.

I vote Sean's place. Now when do we want to do it? After those two things are finalized, I'll make a new post, here and on OVT. Then we'll get a list of people and things that they may want to work on.

04-26-2005, 04:16 PM
hey, i just found this post and read through it... i think going to seans would be better because then if people want to work on their cars they could, or if they just want to hang out and show off.... thats fine too. so my vote is for a day at seans with the option of work or play.

Sean, you said a Sunday works best for you?
So my road looks REALLY bad right now cause it's maintained by us on the road and I head the effort, and since a neighbor put his house on the market I haven't filled any potholes (3-4 months during the rainiest part of the year) So I totally understand where Kyle is coming from with that.
That said my neighbor decided not to sell his house (or so he says, there are still signs) so I am planning on filling potholes in the next few weeks or this weekend.
And Saturdays would be OK, but I would have to check with my fiance as our day off is Saturdays and if she was up for it a Saturday would be fine.
The weekend before IPD's swap meet would be good to my knowledge and perhaps after, but that is memorial day weekend and I may be doing something.
Let's open up a poll.

The weekend before(14/15) doesn't work because a few of us are going to be at the dyno that day. Not necessarily people that might be coming to this event, other than me, but nonetheless, I'll be at the dyno on that saturday, along with Eric M., Nick Choy(hopefully), and Peter, and then Andrew mentioned that he's unavailable that weekend too...

Sean and I were talking about that... but I didn't know that you wouldn't mind hosting another event... Damn, now we have CHOICES! Lol. How about Tony, you get the next work day? Or Sean you get the next work day.... Who knows... I don't know which would be better. Doesn't really matter to me. I don't think it really matters at all. If anyone has any biases, speak up I guess?

Hold that thought...

How about this. Sean, you hold a work/play day on May 7th, and Tony you hold one the weekend after the IPD thing. Or a couple weekends after. This way we'll have a day for people to try and get things done before IPD. Luke I know you've been wanting to get a bunch of stuff done on your 242, and I'm sure many others are too.

If the 7th doesn't work out for people, well, there's going to be another one. We can make both of these happen, IMO. Any naysayers? Sean, if you can't host one on the 7th, maybe you can Tony? And then Sean you'll hold the one afterwards?

I'm on my way to work, so we'll see what you guys say tonight at 11 when I come back...

15th works, as the dyno's on the 14th. 15th it is, Sean's place. After we hear from the other half, we'll know if we can do it there or not. If we can't, we can try for Tony's on the 15th...

Totally agree.... For the people who want to do it NOW, I've got the 30th of April open to anybody who wants to work on thier cars/or need help. And then for the others do Sean's house or Tony's, or And both. who cares right? But I would love to have people show up at my place. Located in lovely Forest Grove. 2536 Douglas st. right off 26th ave. easy find I'm on the corner of Douglas street. Gray house. Yard with a tree. don't know what tree it is. but its on the small side. I have grass. its good and mowed too.

Sounds like a good place. Thanks for the offer. It would be sweet attend both! Sadly I will be at least swapping a tranny this weekend. Most likely working on the project car to get the motor, trans and interior back in.

take care

yes it is. I'm not expecting a huge crowd. but as far as I know possibly 3 or 4 people. which is fine. Just that, I didn't clear it with the roommates.... 1 of which will be here until 2 and then be back at 5 or so. main point is. It should be fine. I will hope to see people come at around 10:30am and then leave at 7 or so. from which afterwards I'm going to meet up with the NWSR crowd and party to celebrate my friend's birthday party one week in advance. Anybody is welcome. there is going to be lots of laughs and drinking.

Hi there I plan on coming over. How about putting a b cam in my yellow car? I got a 1/2" drive foot pound torque wrench today, and i have extra seals that i can throw in the head as well. It would also be cool to take off the intake manifold and do a flame trap service and replace the little temperature sensor under intake port #3 but we'll see..

Sure, but I think we need to get a half inch to 3/8 converter for the torque wrench. I'm sure ghetto zone has one. I'm sure we can totally do all that.

Well thanks for Shane showing up. made some progress on ol' yeller. Its now B cammed, and discouvered that his cap and rotor are shot. Hope that will fix his fuel consumption.
And thank you Shane for helping me install my new drivers side door. Couldn't have done that alone. :)

My work day is officially over.
