I picked up this gem last Friday and am surprised I like it as much as I do, mind you this is just a spare car.

Sounds familiar. I picked up the same year/model simply to get my nice car off the road and found I really like it as well. Fun car!!
So now you just gotta start the mod list. :D
BTW, congrats on the incredibly low mileage!! It's BARELY broken in yet.

"Spare Car?" NO...NO...NO. What ever else you have next to the 740Tic...that is "Your spare car" LOL Nice car I haven't seen a 90'+ 740 that clean, and low miles in awhile. So Jealous!

Where in texas do you live? There are a few of us here in austin, san marcos, and a few more in dallas/houston/corpus. The car is a nice find. It's just a baby.

Welcome! Great find. Bricks in decent shape are getting harder and harder to find, never-the-less with low mileage to boot.

I am actually in Arlington Texas.
I am a diehard VW watercooled guy, I rebuilt mostly early A1 Chassis cars (Rabbits, Scirocco and Jetta's).
DD is currently an 01 1.8T Jetta and will stay that way, the Volvo is just to nice to drive. We actually bought it a spare so the parents had something to use when they are in town, and to haul stuff with.
As for modding it I am still learning the engine and its abilities and working on the wife to let me drop it and up the HP.
It needs a few small plastic pieces on the interior and has a few door dings that I want to get handled, but the over all car is great.
Thanks for the compliments guys and the warm invite to a great board. ;-)
