My first 'modification,' if you want to call it that, was upgrading the stock stereo. All of this was done soon after getting the car, with the exception of the auxilary jack which was put in a couple monthes ago.

 I actually didn't do the installation on the stereo... but I did get a great deal on it :-D . In fact, a key point I forgot to mention is that I have yet to pay full price on anything for my car as far as modifications are concerned. Back to the stereo though, once it was installed, I did do a few things myself later on. I replaced the dash speakers, hid all the sub wiring in the trunk and hooked up the iPod/headphone jack. There is more to come aswell ;-) .

After you have done it once you are out of the woods. I have wired and rewired my Volvo stereo so many times I can do it in about 30 minutes without a wiring harness adapter.

And you don't know nightmare until you have wired a Kia Sorento without and integration harness or wiring diagrams (just a mutimeter and cutters...I'm a freaking wire pimp! )

Thanks. You're right too, Chris, Kane, Mark, Mike and all the rest of the SoCal guys deserve alot of credit for helping me out with the car this year. The only reason it's like it is today is because of the great group of guys in and arround LA. I made sure however not to say "I installed" b/c there is nothing on this car that wasn't done without some sort of teamwork.

//Edit: I just added a list of modifications at the top of the first post, this list will (hopefully) be updated as time goes on.

how's the tint when reversing at night??

I had like limo tint on the GTI before, and it was so bloody dark I can't see sh1t at night, my dad wants to tint his car and I want to tint mine.

perhaps like 35% front, 5% rear sides and 10% rear window?

Thanks alot! I want you to know that I always eye your signature w/ envy b/c I know you have a moonroof... while I do not :-( .

Tint is all gravy. I personally love the 5% all arround in the back, and if laws allowed I would do 5% on every window. I just don't like people seeing inside my car (unless I'm flaunting with the windows down :-P ).

Anyways, realistically (and legally) 35% up front in hindsight would have been the way to go. Any front tint is illegal in CA... and since the 50% is already noticable, I wish I would have gone slightly more.

As far as reversing at night, I have a set of those high wattage reverse bulbs from iPd... I've had them since I had my gray 940 (which had a lighter tint)... but since I'm so used to them I can't honestly tell you how much they help.

Also, I'm sure you're probably planning on doing this, but take both cars in at the same time and negotiate a discount. That's what I did with mine :-D .

Do you know the name of that steering wheel? I want one that has the four spokes like that, and the new momos are all 3 (I like to hold it w/ the right hand in the 6 o'clock position when cruising sometimes).

Beautiful car.

Thanks. The steering wheel originally came out of a brand new Ferarri about 10 (maybe even 15) years ago. My uncle owns a shop that works entirely on European exotics, and his client didn't want the wheel :???: . I don't know the name off hand, but about a year or two ago I ran accross the same model on-line... So it was still being made fairly recently.

As far as Momo the brand goes in general, it is simply the best of the best. The steering wheel is made with the highest quality imaginable and has lasted over a decade inlcuding a few hundred thousand miles along the way (on varrious cars). It still shows no sign of wear and could easily pass for being brand new. I also have a Momo subwoofer, which seriously throws out more thunder than two 10"s of a different brand. I would have paid full price for the wheel without batting an eye if it came down to it, it is definitly one of the best modifications that my car has.

Tempting deal... a wagon can be much more practical, however I think I'll have to pass. Come on up to Davis still though, there is no traffic and miles of backroads, we can flog both cars and we can get some more modding done.

Well, coming to the party late here, I just wanted to say that I think that's a great looking car. I'm normally not a fan of 944's or 964's but that thing is sweet!

Thanks alot! Everyone is welcome to this party whenever they wish ;-) .

I agree with you though, 9's can look very bland in their stock form. When my dad owned this car, I really didn't like its looks very much, but that all changed after it got detailed and a few things got thrown on it. They do have alot of potential, it just has to be found :) .
