Well, BenFlynn's 740 is running on MSnS now (actually has been since Friday night). There were some early installation issues regarding the operation of the factory LH2.2 FI Relay. We also had some code problems trying to use the newest version of MT and the associated .s19 file.

Basically, the wiring in the car was left intact due to the recent replacement of the factory engine harness. There was a piggyback wiring harness added for the air temp sensor and the TPS (Nissan). So 75% of the MS wires are jumpered in under the dash. Three wires go to the new harness, three wires go to the EZK computer and six wires connect to LH. In addition (due to my being unable to find the source of the code misconfiguration for MT417), the trigger wire for the 124 module needed to be moved from #5 to #6 (on the ignition module connector) to use the 139 module. We also added the Saab transistorized coil and rigged up a coil wire from the two old ones.

Things started out nice enough (Ben being naive enough to believe that we would be able to install this in less than 4 hours - including building the harness)

Precut wiring (measured with a string) - All the same color

Prepping the TPS - Grind down the shaft and re-tap to add Nissan TPS:

Pilot hole for the AIT:

One of those fancy bits for enlarging the hole:

3/8 Tap and tighten into place (didn't need JB Weld)

Forgot my "helping hands", so I improvised a way to solder the connector:

Ben should have known something was wrong when this was as far as I had gotten at about 10 PM.

Can you spot the MS wiring???

The way this thing was initially wired up was to be done on old OEM connectors. Since Ben lost the old EZK computer we had squirreled away, the decision was made to scrap the plug and play harness for something he could solder into place permanently after we got it running.

Actually, a new fuel injection relay is in order here because of the way the factroy setup powers the main relay. The only way I could get it to work was to jumper power from #18 onto #9 on the Jetronic connector. But this resulted in the AMM staying on. The solution we reached was to add an interrupt in that jumper and then remove the AMM when not using LH. The reasoning behind keeping LH operationional was to prevent Ben from loosing his only ride in the event we had problems with the ignition. Although, at this point - after swapping the ignition - he will have a little work ahead of him if he needs to go back (I don't think he will)

All in all, I would call this a success. Even though it took about twice as long as I think it should have.

^^^Even using this, I managed to mess up. So be careful and double/ triple check all of your wiring. And be prepared for things like shielded wires and wires "changing color" on the connector after they emerge from said shielding.

so the submarine has been ms'd. i find your issues with 24s9 to be amusing, as my car ran better immediately following the conversion, however the data format for msq's changed from 21uX to all subsequent versions, the old msq's are not compatible.

I had noticed from the factory diagrams with LH 2.4 I would have the same EFI relay issue you had, when you turn the key on, the ECU grounded the main side of the relay powering the AMM, IAC etc, and the FP side of the relay, so it had to be on....I added a relay to my MS setup (which will run this week dammit!) basically to switch the ground for the EFI relay. So when you turn the key on, it powers the relay I added which grounds the main side of the FP relay, hence it works like it did from the factory....didnt want to add another relay, but i sure as hell didnt want to rewire that end of things or change out the relay....so far I havent had to touch he fuse box or the LH harness connector....i used the IAC wires for the MAT, and fudged with the stock TPS wires for the TPS, pretty much left everything else intact, except for the cold start valve, which I cut off and hid in the harness....then jumped a few wires from the EZK harness...ill have some pics later, but heres my MS setup to keep the stock connector, cause ya, it would be a bitch to pull otherwise

Ben manually transferred my data (from screenshots of my VE and Spark tables) to his MT417 on his desktop computer. Then we put that .msq onto my thumbdrive and loaded it into the controller via laptop. I knew about the incompatablility issue so that is the reason I had Ben transcribe all of the data early in the evening.

Then once we noticed the problem (with the flashing fuel pump relay), we reflashed the controller (because I thought about the incomplete flash (using download-firmware.bat)) and began entering things by hand. The first time we hit the Burn values to controller button, the fuel pumps would start switching on and off.

So, I ohmed out the wires for power and ground to make sure we were getting good voltage at the controller and reburned. The last time the fuel pumps started flashing, I reflashed with the old code and voila, all was as is supposed to be.

then you or someone else did something wrong (or didnt setup the new code right)...

Well, I am sure we will get around to trying it later. The only thing is, now that the 139 module is in there and it is working, it will be up to Ben to swap in the 124 module and coil to try it out. It really runs good. Ben has the same problem Mark has/ had. He has two major leaks before the O2 sensor that will keep him from tuning until they are fixed.

yea exhaust leaks make tuning a bitch. 21u should do dwell on the coil (its been a while tho) for the 124 module

With So Many New Things To Learn I Will Probably Wait Until I Figure Them Out Before I Swapp To The Dwell Controll....dwell Is The Amount Of Time The Coil Has To Charge Right? That Is Just A Guess But You See There Is A Lot To Learn...thanks FOr The Help Greg
