V40 1.9 T Audio Upgrades

I have a 2000 1.9t V40 with the stock sc 813 head and the 6 disc multi changer in the trunk. The rear sound quality is awful however, not sure if just the speaker or the signal from the head unit. Can anyone recommend any upgrades, either speaker or head unit?

Most likely the speaker. It's hard to give advice about speakers imo cause everyone has different tastes, but find out what size it is and go shopping.

I've always had great luck with and thought Kenwood speakers sound great.
