HI PEEPS
I recently bought a 1990 760 gle V6 saloon, my first volvo saloon, ive had volvo estates for years. the saloon is in overall excellent condition with full service history, how ever it needed a new exhaust! no problem i thought! wrong! it turns out that the original owner wasn't happy about standard cars in fact he had volvo build him a "one of" I'm told by volvo the car was built with competition suspension and the engine had a few mods, what i was wondering is have there been many "one of" customer spec cars built, and how do i value it for insurance etc.
my father in law also has a 1990 760 gle V6 that is well maintained and ive noticed how much quicker mine is off the mark, so maybe a run at the pod is called for just to see how quick
byeeeeeeee for now

Sounds fishy to me. I've never heard of a one-off Volvo that was sold to customers. I'd suspect your run of the mill aftermarket parts. It seems odd that the previous owner wouldn't have mentioned that information in detail when showing you the car.

suspect all you like!!!!!!!!! but the main dealer i went to, to buy parts double checked that the car is a factory built special, and as to the previous owner, he had only owned the car for a few months, he had in fact bought the car from the original owner! for one the fuel prices in the uk are very high and he could not afford to run the car as a daily driver, and maybe he looked into the spares prices, the exhaust for it cost me twice what the normal would cost, as it was a special order, its not something you shout about when you sell a car, i bought the car privately, there for i have no come back on the last owner. ive decided to make this my hobby car and return it to pristine condition inside and out

hi,
your 1990 760gle has volvo's PRV v6 engine, and could you tell mew if its the same PRV engine as used in the 264gle.
Cause thats what I've got, and I didnt know you could buy mods for it?

Long ago Volvo did offer a cam upgrade for the PRV engine through the R-sport catalogue, and the 740T suspension upgrade will work fine.
The PRV engine went through some considerable mods from the 264 era to the 760 era. The firing order was changed to make the engine run smoother and the pistons, bearings and crank were re-designed for low-friction on the cylinders. Also the head and cam were re-designed for better oil flow and lubrication. This was always a problem with the earlier V6 and many were upgraded or modified to this new head after cam failure. I think the later 760 V6 was about 15 hp more than the 264 V6.

Note to you who have a PRV V6:
All of these upgrades, including a higher pressure fuel delivery and injection system were the stock components to the DeLorean which was 200 hp.

Thats awesome, 200hp, gees I would love to get that much power out of my PRV v6.
Do you know if the later PRV v6 from say a late model 760 will fit perfectly into my 79 264? (ie: no need for new engine mounts ect?)
Cause the changes volvo made to the engine sound really nice.
Im in a dilema of whether to get another PRV v6 put in, or to go with volvo's 4 banger.? PLEASE HELP.

Last dozen places I checked all listed the Delorean at the same hp: 130. A not-unbelievable number since it's the same as what went into Volvos.

I rode in a friend's Delorean several times and can say it really was 200 hp. (Modified? he got it used) I also knew two others that had the 264 PRV V6 and it was pretty lame by comparison, ~ 130 hp as you say. The later V6 in the 760 was rated at 155 hp, pretty close to a B230FT, which was 162 hp. The V6 was dropped for the B230FT in the 760 in ~'88-'90, which is the better conversion than going with another Peaugot Renault Volvo (PRV) V6.
