I want to lower my 83 240 sedan. But i'm trying to weigh in my current off-road capabilities against the improved visual appearance.
Any thoughts?

I really like my lowered car alot. I find that the stiffer springs make it bottom out less but the lost ground clearance can somtimes suck. That's the real issue. Do you need the ground clearance? If you really do need the ground clearance then it would be best to keep the stock height. If you can live without the ground clearance and always drive to where you want to go then you'll be happy.
My car burns up lawns in the summer because the catalytic converter sits so low.
Happy rolling,

Bigger rims and lower bodywork makes the car look lower without actually dropping it. As long as you keep most of the bodywork above the lowest points in the car (the parts that bottom out most readily) it seems like you wouldn't have a problem. Of course this assumes you're just considering the lowering for the looks instead of the handling.

Happy rolling,
LOL listen to this;
At the county fair where I live, the park people in these huge fields that have some really high grass. SO me and few buddies roll on in, in the low-vo and we leave a long-ass singed grass trail in the path that we drove to park. I mean the smoke was billowing from under my car, I got really worried and we got out and we discovered that the car was just singing the hell outa the grass bellow us
